Chris Hughton to be handed a £15m transfer kitty after budget talks with Newcastle.

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley held budget talks with manager Chris Hughton and club secretary Lee Charnley on Wednesday.

Hughton wants around 10 players to help Newcastle survive in the Premier League next season but Ashley is believed to have earmarked only £15m for spending.

Swindon's Charlie Austin, Blackpool's Charlie Adam, Aston Villa's Marlon Harewood and Marc Wilson of Portsmouth are among targets

That goes with the theory 1mil+ per player and low wages...

Aye but all their wages will still mount up even on what the fat cunt is offering them. Harewood was on £25k pw which he wasnt worth that amount.

Ashley wont give him much if he wants to sell up will he. But with players on such low wages compared to a lot of other clubs i dont think even the threat of relegation will bother the fat knacker because the parachute payments for 3 years will keep him ticking over.

I hope someone buys us in the summer because getting rid of Ashley will be a right boost to the fans and the players.

But on the same token Rotti if he was going to sell he woudn't give him any money at all.

So it looks he's going to stay rubbing his hands on this money from the prem and sky and season ticket money with no little outlay from his own pocket..

if its 15 million to spend on lower league players then maybe people are right to hope for 17th next season ...... and if we do stay up it will be some achievement ...... thought he may have learnt his lesson by now but obviously not if thats true

we are not actually believing this article though are we?

It could well be true but I doubt very much some anonymous reporter at the Mail will know anything about what actually was said

A £15m outlay is nowt m8 to Ashley if it means we stay up as it makes his chances of getting his money back more realistic.

That story is speculative to say the least.

This time last year all the press stories were what a disaster we are and how we are going to "do a Leeds" and drop through the divisions. I must admit I fell for it hook line and sinker.

Anyone remember all the stories about Ashley having a fire sale and us losing our best players? Never happened. Same in January - if you believed the papers and a few on here we were losing the likes of Taylor, Carroll, Nolan, Colo. Nowt happened.

This summer it will be how we will struggle in the Prem, how little we will spend, and a few infighting stories including either Barton, Carroll or Taylor or all fucking three!

Let's hope the media are as "wide of the mark" this year as they were last year.

That could have been that they were on good contracts and no other club would be prepared to offer them what they are on here.

Id like to know how many that stayed would have fucked off IF every player had a relegation clause in their contracts.

Can you imagine Colo being here if he wasnt on his reported £80k pw.

The one (slightly) good thing you can say about our current regime is they handle the media a lot better than the last lot. Since the first fat twat fucked off the press have been pretty much 100% wrong on all things newcastle, probably partially explaining the rise in anti-newcastle feeling in the media.

Rotti you may well be right.

Ashley gets praised for keeping hold of these players, but it might be a case of the players not wanting to take a pay cut to leave.Takes nothing away from the players, they have done the business this season.

Maybe true.

But if Ashley really wanted rid, he could have subsidised their wages and forced them out to anywhere that would take them.

Always so negative. Like it or not Ashley bankrolled this season. Even if it was his fault for getitng us where we are, he didn't sell every player to make a couple of million here and there.

This article stinks of speculation. Not one fact in there I'd guess.

Duff and Martins would have been on top wages and they quickly went.

The point is, the press was full of stories about "fire sales" and the squad being left with just kids and loan signings. Didn't happen.

Also in January all the talk was of Taylor being sold, and clubs coming in for Nolan, Gutierrez, Carroll etc. People on hear were predicting who was going to be flogged off, Taylor was in the papers saying how he didn't want to be sold etc etc.

And none of it happened!

In fact we actually bought players - and to give Hughton his due Routledge proved a pivotal signing just when our rather lop-sided team with its over reliance on Jonas and Enrique.

The point about Ashley is that he will never provide funds to take the team to the next level, but equally he realises that if he does not provide enough funds the club will just get relegated again. It's a fine line and it remains to be seen if Hughton can wheel and deal in the summer to strengthen rather than simply deepen the squad.

My point is, I think that the papers will be awash with the same sort of scare stories as they were last summer and January, but I doubt very much if players will be sold off for the sake of it - history proves this has not happened when it was thought it would so why should it happen now?

Thats the problem he wont wheel and deal cause he thinks this 1st team wants a crack in the prem so he will just deepen the squad with just players to make up the numbers..

hence leon Best for example..

No he didnt but he also sold players in order for the manager to bring in new faces. Its not exactly bankrolling is it.

15 million sounds about right. The transfer market is falling apart after what happened to West Ham and Portsmouth. Other than Man City and maybe one or two others I don't think any club will be spending big money. I expect a very quiet window. The question is how we spend the money. Hopefully our new scout might find a gem or two.

The bottom line is that none of the papers have a fucking clue how much we've got to spend. Just like players being linked in or out, they all just pull names and figures out of hat, in a huge journalistic sweepstake, and then if they happen on a story they printed with their fingers crossed, it's trebles all round. As soon as the season finishes, hacks give up all pretence of writing stories, they just hand the columns over to agents.
Bottom line, tomorrow's chip wrapping, and with a huge pinch of salt to go with it.

Do you believe EVERY piece of fuckanory that Llambias utters? Ashley 'bankrolled' this season must be true cos Llambias said so? Stinks of speculation on your part. The FACTS are that the fans coming through the turnstiles in their thousands 'bankrolled' this season and have helped keep the current incompetent incumbents in place, waiting to make their big profit when the sale goes through. If the fans had not have turned up in their thousands then Ashley would have had no option but to have sold the club for way below his asking price, incurring a huge loss, rather than continue to 'bankroll' the club.Ashley and Llambias should get down on their knees and kiss the feet of every paying supporter at the next home game. And you should probably give them a hand.

The papers speculate to fill column inches, thats the whole point.

The club, Hughton, Ashley & Lambiase are 100% correct in playing their cards close to their chest, and even implying that times are hard - Why the fuck should they broadcast their plans????

There is no point at all being being gloomy about what we may or may not spend, we are best off waiting to see who we bring in regardless of their price tag.

This summer there will be LOADS of movers well within our perceived miserly price range, and we will be pick of the bunch for the players as individuals.
