Carlisle confirmed, but no date released yet.

What other teams do you think we'll play?

NEWCASTLE United will kick off their pre-season at Brunton Park.
Chris Hughton will take on League One Carlisle United in their first warm-up game.

The fixture has been agreed between the two clubs, but Newcastle are yet to release the date.

However, Brunton Park doesn't hold good memories for Joey Barton, who suffered a fractured metatarsal in a friendly at Carlisle in 2007 in what was only his second game for the club.

on the other hand, playing poorer teams and winning will keep morale up. We don't really want to be getting hammered off teams pre season before our return to the big league

They're just warm up games and that's it. Stretch the legs and whatnot. Doesn't really matter who we play.

Carlisle confirmed, but no date released yet.

So there be trouble again like last time...

Might as well invite Milwall and Rangers again at home for more trouble or even do a away game to Stoke for good old kicking sake...

Suspect Nicky Butt will have a testimonial match against Man United. He was there for over ten years.

Yeah they could do with a hand. Such a shame what happened to them. Last season they were so close to the playoffs before administration. Very sad.

Also Rangers.

Reports from Scotland today suggested that Newcastle United could play a pre-season friendly against Rangers at Ibrox.

The Magpies are set for a training camp in Ireland during July but are understood not to be playing any games.

Chris Hughton has also already confirmed that Newcastle will take on League One side Carlisle United at Brunton Park, with the final pre-season fixture list still at the planning stage.

Newcastle are expected to return for pre-season training in the second week of July.

The new Premier League season will kick off on August 14.
