He always said he idolised Shearer, so would he like to wear his shirt?

Of course, we won't pay £20m him, or his wages.

Plus, I don't think he's the type of player who'd fit into our current set up of grafters.

So no, he won't be our number 9.

Pretty pointless thread this one.

Bollocks.

Not good enough for £30m, and struggling at one of the best clubs in the world, but still a fantastic player.

He's lazy. Lazier than Shola.

He had a good year at Spurs but other than that...nothing. I certainly wouldn't want him here. He'd be a watse of money. I'd sooner have a hungry Lovenkrands who wnats to play for his and graft his bollocks off than a lazy, mercenary who isn't as good as he thinks he is.

I haven't seen anything consistantly class (aside from the odd class goal...I mean odd) since he left Spurs though.

For what he would cost, I don't think he'd be worth it.

Yeah I know, I've already dismissed the thread as pointless Big Grin

Still think he's a brilliant player though.

He is a Shearer fan. Not a NUFC fan.

Shearer interviewd him for FF and he said as much earlier this season.

Not a player I want so see in the No9 shirt for the Toon.

Ps, as an after thought, I would rather give it to Best.

You could tell by his face on Sunday coming off the pitch he wasn't a happy camper. I told my family he'll be out of there in the Summer.
If he's not doing it for Manu, he's certainly not going to do it for us.

I think he's a bit of a pouty prima donna. Did well at Spurs as he was the main guy--not the same at manu. Don't know that he's tough enough to come into NUFC and take over the 9 shit--Carroll would bust him up.

He'll sign on somewhere where he's the #1 guy and he'll thrive again.

Regardless of whether we'd pay for him or not, or whether he'd even come here if we would, Berbatov is exactly the wrong sort of player for us.

He epitomises the type of purchase that put us where we were last season - player's with big reputations and at least some of the talent to back those reputations up, but a piss poor attitude, knocking on 30 and hasn't performed well for years.

If he can't bother his arse to play well in a Manure team that is packed with quality and is a hair's breadth from an unprecedented 4 titles in a row, how likely is it that he's going to take a pay cut in order to run around like a loony hoping Jonas or Routledge manage to get one of their crosses past the first man?

All that said, his most prolific performances have come in a Bulgaria shirt, where he is surrounded by crap players and expected to perform against the finest the world has to offer. So maybe he could do a job for us after all.

Agree entirely that he is exactly the wrong player for us, throw Keane into that bracket too.

Am sure I read somewhere that Berba himself admitted that he gets very nervous on the big stage and just never seemed to settle - Would explain his erratic showings at Man Utd.

I like him as a player, but we have missed that boat by a good 5 years or so.

I know he's lazy but I think that's his only weakness.

He hasn't been that bad at all for Man Utd, just everybody expects more, because of his price tag.

Well of course, but at the same time, it doesn't make him a bad player.

Perhaps not, but it makes him a luxury: something we can't afford at this point. Kluivert wasn't a bad player. Owen wasn't a bad player. They were still wrong for us even at that time, and would be disastrous for us now.
