If he was at the match on saturday it would have been all over the rags on sunday. IF he is coming to SJP, I can only think it's related to his compo.

Thing is, with his second spell, it did feel like unfinished business, and it did feel initially like it was the continuation of a legacy that ended before it's time. Now though, the whole Keegan/Newcastle story has run to it's natural end. The circumstances of his going were absolutely gutting, and I think I posted around that time that part of why it felt like such a kick in the throat was that Ashley and co had tarnished Keegan's original legacy a little bit, though through no fault of Keegans, because of the way they manipulated and lied to everyone. That wasn't how Keegan was supposed to go out, it wasn't how things should have finished, and of all people Kevin Keegan deserved better. Maybe there is a good reason after all why people should never go back, especially legends.

Having said that, you never know where new legends may come from. I've said on another post about how this is a club for romantics and dreamers, and when you think about it, when the shit truly hit the fan, and when the club was facing some seriously dark days, it was the understated and dignified Hughton who came to the fore and did the business under the most unbelievable circumstances at the time. Cast your mind back to Leyton Orient and see how you felt back then?

It is possible that Hughton could be another legend in the making, another reluctant hero who took on the responsibility of guiding this club in an hour of need, seized it, and won the war. He may, or may not, hit the heights of Keegan, or even Glenn Roeder, but he has earned the opportunity to have his season at the top, because he has proved his worth. And he has proved that he has also earned the right to try and write his own legacy within the club. Hughton deserves the support of every Newcastle Utd supporter or fan, and he deserves to be praised entirely within his own rights and merits. He has earned it.

Too true. Did you see him tonight on Look North trying to explain why there would be no bus parade through the city? I'm still truing to work out what he said yet. There's being diplomatic and there's being shit scared of upsetting your boss, but this took the fucking Hobnob.

He just gets on with his job, and keeps quiet.

He never gives the journos anything interesting to write and that to me is a nice change.

Exactly, there's nothing wrong with a bit of quiet authority. The man is intelligent enough (a regular contributor to left wing magazines back in the day I understand), so I reckon he has it in him to express himself perfectly well if he needs to.

In any case, it should be that gobshite Llambias or even the high fat fucker himself explaining why there is no open top bus or parade, as the journalist in question probably knew full well, and that seems like a loaded question, not to mention an unfair one, to ask Hughton.

You'd prefer an arrogant gobshite like Souness or Allardyce?

Or just a complete tosser like Kinnear?
