RE: Michael Ashley

Thats the British Market. (fucking Brits Big Grin)

There's plenty of value out there

Van Der Vaart 8m last summer yes please.
Errr no we prefer to bring in puncheon this summer.

Plenty of value. But for decent sums of money.
It's not like where expecting fatty to spend his money!
Just spend what we got for Carroll in january.

RE: Michael Ashley

VDV was good value, but as for Puncheon, we haven't bought him so i'm not commenting. I still like Crouch at domestic level, if we're going to directly replace AC. I said at the start of the season we should have gone over to Barca and see what they had on loan - Bojan, Jefferen etc etc.
Still, come summer we'll see if fat boy continues to confound norms and do things we don't expect.

As for 20 mil for Gary Cahill - give me strength.

Andy Carroll - £35m is in that league aswell.

How can you say that he doesn't he want quality?

Tiote is quality. Nolan is quality. Coloccini is quality. Simpson is getting better and better. Williamson is also coming on. Guti isn't bad.

Just because he doesnt want to spunk £12m spread over 3/4 years on an unproven bag of shite from abroad doesnt mean he doesn't want quality. I bet we're still paying for some of the shite that we've signed under Shepherd.

Or maybe he's learnt a lesson from signing Xisco?

Like Sal has said on this thread and the rest of us 'Ashley Lovers' have been saying to you for months. Wait until the summer and see who we bring in.

Would a player of Van der Vaarts stature sign for us?!
Would he fuck

Would we be able to afford to pay someone like Van der Vaart's wages?!
Would we fuck

And just for the record we haven't signed Puncheon yet and your already slagging him off, dont believe everything you read.

RE: Michael Ashley

Its one thing saying he wants quality.
Its another thing actually proactively seeking quality.

I'll ask you this. What separates spurs from us.
One club. Who want quality. Go out and pay for it. And go places.
We on the otherhand. Say we want quality. Sell our biggest asset and maintain that 'oh yeah we want quality.'

If fatty wanted quality then should he not have kept Carroll?

Fuck sake ashleys a hypocrite. Says one thing. Does another.
And of course we have heard and seen it all before.

RE: Michael Ashley

Spurs sold Berbatov & Carrick before they could realistically go and buy more quality.

A combined £50mil or so.

They sold carrick 5 years ago man!
Hardly recent is it.
Berbatov was sold for 30m. But they spent 3 times that on players.

Viana ...it's all right banging on every day about how we should be doing this and how we should be doing that.

Ashley is a law unto himself and he's made it obvious that the days of spunking cash on players are over while he's here

some of us just accept it and try and get a bit of enjoyment out of supporting the team (isn't that what it's supposed to be about?) while others bleat on about how they think it should be blah, blah, blah

I reckon most of us on here would want a change of owner but there is little we can do about it and even if we could there are no guarantees what would happen in the future

we can all wallow in where we think we should be and who we should be buying but fuck me so can the smoggies

.

RE: Michael Ashley

But you need to distinguish the difference between spunking money away.
And investing in quality players.
I don't want 10m spunked on any flop as much as you.
Let's spend 10m on a quality proven player.
Not 3m on some nobody.

I find it hard to enjoy a season were we are relegation candidates mind.
Also can't enjoy it when watching fatty rip our club to pieces.
I care about this club altogether more than I care about this one season.

I'd love a year in the championship on the proviso that fatty sold up shop.

And took that speccy cunt with him.

RE: Michael Ashley

A proven player like Michael Owen for example??

It's not as easy as you make out man....you need a creditable setup all through the club....It's not just about getting the best players money can buy, it's about getting players that want to come here for the right reasons.

I'd say that Tiote has been 10 times the player for us that Owen ever was and look at the different price tags and profiles

I think everybody agrees with you to an extent.....nobody wants a team full of Perches but on the other hand a team full of Ben Arfas and Tiotes would do just fuckin champion

This really is a make or break transfer window.....we know there is money there and we know we are desperately short on numbers....lets just wait and see what happens

Mac if the worst was to happen and we go down do you think fatty will put up the money he got for Carroll because i reckon he wont spend a penny. I dont think he will spend much if we stay up aswell. Its all about the profit for him spend as little as possible in order to make as much profit as possible.

RE: Michael Ashley

Mac I'm all for having a team of Ben Arfas and tiotes.
But I'm not saying let's have a Hollywood Michael Owen signing here.
I'm saying 35m will buy better players than 10m.
It's common sense man.

10m may see us buying 3 top top players...But the chances of that are slim.
35m would by all chances mean we'd get at least 3 top top players.
Established with a pedigree and time on their side.

At current rates, 35 mil would get you 1 and a half Ashley Youngs. I think 3 top players for that is stretching it, unless you mean 3 top fizzy poppers that is.

Harecunt - 7 mil

Puncunt - 12 mil

Bellercunt - 11 mil

I think 10m is bandied about because that's what people including myself think will be spent in the summer.

Judging on past performance.
His character.
His second in command.
Pardew has already shown he can't be trusted.
And the fact he's a cunt,

I reckon its a foregone conclusion.

What will you say In the summer of we spend £10m ish?

RE: Michael Ashley

people need to realise what was said and how its interpreted asi thinkn we are getting ahead of ourselves.

i understood he said the 35m would be reinvested in the club. that doesnt mean all on players, he could gold plate the executive bog for all we know or will find out.

then i heard a quote the 35m would be the cost of the transfers, so i assume thats wages fees and costs.

we know there is 35 million kicking about in the club.....we know we have a desperately thin squad which needed strengthening anyhoos regardless of the Carroll money.......I'd be disappointed if it least 20- 25 million wasn't invested on transfer fees alone

Totally.
Anything under 35m means he isn't using the clubs money.
And just using profit from Carroll in January.

Pardew admitted in a press conference just after Carroll had left, that the £35m will be on fees and wages.

So work it out 2 £5 million buys on a 40 grand a week, five year contract.Signing on fees, there will be fuck all left

Do they include the recent Tiote new deal as well.

Yup, that would come in at £30mil ish.

I dont think we can take a blind bit of notice what they say to be honest.

Am sure we will spend some coin though.

He wants to buy young cheap players and sell them at a profit.
Still not quite sure how this supposed arsenal model will work.

It's one thing saying yeah 'let's copy arsenal'
Another thing sacking your manager every year.
And Spending peanuts on the team.

The 'Arsenal Model' works because we (NUFC) buy 'young cheap players and sell them on at a profit' to Arsenal, who use them to build a team who win trophies. It also worked for Tottenham in the Eighties (Gascoigne and Waddle) and Liverpool in the Seventies and Eighties (McDermott & Kennedy & Beardsley). It's a very successful blueprint for these 'top clubs'.
