Barton Not Getting New Contract

Quotes from agent Willie McKay regarding his client Joey Barton as reported by Sky Sports on Wednesday:

"I had a meeting with Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias and club secretary Lee Charnley and they have indicated Joey will not be offered a new contract.

"Joey will continue to be a Newcastle player next season and then he will leave on a free transfer at the end of his contract.

"Joey would have loved to have extended his stay at Newcastle, but unfortunately it is not to be.

"Joey has loved his time at Newcastle and nothing will change his commitment for the club next season.

"Obviously we will be monitoring the situation next January to try and find a new club for Joey as he can speak to clubs from abroad in January."

That is an absolutely terrible decision and am quite shocked if its true.

They are direct quotes so it must be!

RE: Barton Not Getting New Contract

Now we find out if Pardew has a spine, all along he has been quoted saying how good a pro Joey has been..

If he wasn't fucking lying, then Ashley and Llambiarse are saying, fuck you Pardew, we will tell you who can stay and who will go..

After all, you are the one who will look a cunt, not us two, although we don't give a shit what the Geordies think, anyway..!!

Is this really true?

For goodness sake - he's become a key player this season! All the previous shite and he stays and now, when he appears to have turned his life around and developed a good attitude both on and off the pitch, he's going?

Bad news.

RE: Barton Not Getting New Contract

Seems odd. Can't work out why they wouldn't offer him a new deal. Maybe he won't take a wage cut? Maybe he wants too much? Maybe he wants a longer contract than offered?

Either way, it's odd.

A pound to a penny, they have had an offer for him, before they decided not to renew his contract, there is no way they will let him go for FREE at the end of his contract..

They might do. The quote suggests otherwise.

RE: Barton Not Getting New Contract

Steven Taylor's negotiations took ages, and when he didn't back down, he was listed.

But he signed one in the end.

McKay will be trying to get a better deal, probably more for his own benefit than Barton's, and the club won't stand for it.

McKay has gone to the press to get the fans annoyed, trying to get the club to back down and agree to his demands, but I bet they won't.

Fucking agents.

But look at the quotes. He has said he's staying. Why say that if it isn't true?

RE: Barton Not Getting New Contract

Both Barton and McKay have indicated in the past that a contract had been offered and negotiations were in progress.

Now McKay is denying the offer?

Nah, he wants a better deal. Wanker, he is.

They also both stated that Barton was more than willing to take a pay cut.

Its about the length of the deal I reckon.

RE: Barton Not Getting New Contract

To tell you the truth, I am not that bothered if he left.

I would prefer a proper wide man out right, and personally think he has been very average when played in the centre.

He looked good in a few games Carroll was playing, but since we have sold him, he hasn't done anything spectacular in my eyes.

Would not be bothered to see him go really.

i think people get carried away with his commitment, but hes had a great season

in some respects hes a product of the club, an investment and now, at his peak they will look to make a profit
