It is Alan Oliver reporting though, so take it how you want.

Yes, I read that before....Oliver. But it makes sense. Carroll will be our number 9 next season, unless someone comes in with a bid for him. Taylor is nailed on to be our centre half - and he probably knows that unless one of the big 5 come in for him this club is the pinnacle of his career.

To have a Geordie centre forward and centre back is a rarity for us, and is to be applauded. It would be a great shame if Taylor was forced out of the club over something as pathetic as all of this. I've a feeling that they'll both be here at the start of the season.

What is the preferred 2 centre backs, now we have Colo, Williamson and Taylor?

Assuming Colo stays that is.

Out of the three I think Taylor is the only one who has shown he can hack it in the Prem (if you pardon the pun). It may be that Colo and Williamson will be the better players once they get going? But we need strength in depth anyway.

Williamson has done nothing to deseve to be dopped. He's commanding in the ai and a no nonsense defender, which you probably need alongside Colo.

We havent missed Taylor one bit.

They all start afresh next season, just because a player looks solid this season does not mean they can hack it in the premier league.

Williamson has not played a single game in the top flight.

True, but I think we may have uncovered a gem with Williamson.

Sorry but he doesnt qualify as a Geordie under the Geordie Rules.

"a Geordie can be defined as someone born "within spitting distance of the Tyne".

Williamson looks canny enough when the balls coming on to him, but not so hot when they're getting around him or down his side, no pace at all, he relies on his reading of the game, no harm in that as long as he doesn't switch off.
