We are in more debt than ever.
Some will insist though, that we are 'debt free'

RE: Ashley has actually done well

We were actually about £35mil (net) 'worse off' in terms of assets and liabilities from the date Ashley took over to 30 June 2010.

Given we were losing £30mil - £40mil at the time of the takeover, that is essentially just one more year at the rate Shepherd was going.

We have since had a season in the PL on massively reduced wages, with bigger TV money and importantly NO INTEREST CHARGES OR REPAYMENTS on external loans.

We obviously have a far better set-up moving forward (in terms of finances alone) so actually, we are not in 'in more debt than ever' and we certainly dont owe £288mil either.

Full of shit and blind to facts spring to mind.

RE: Ashley has actually done well

In the last full financial year before Ashley's takeover on May 23, 2007, Newcastle's total liabilities stood at £146million. At December 31,2010, net liabilities had risen to £152million.

Those are the facts.

In Fred's days we had a turnover of nye on £100m, nowhere near that now...

Ashley has cut cost but also cut Income...

RE: Ashley has actually done well

What facts?! That you're obsessed with Mike Ashley and obsessed with starting threads all spouting the same old shite?!!

I'll ask it again.

Why do you support Newcastle United and what does supporting Newcastle United bring to your life?

You dont like England, you aren't from the area, you dont like anything about the club so I'd like to know why you put yourself (and us!) through it all?

RE: Ashley has actually done well

V - Do you not see that you are proving the point I made?

You have actually agreed that the liabilities are now just £8mil more at 31 December 10.

We have since finished a PL season got some prize money blah blah blah.

So we WILL HAVE A LESSER DEBT NOW YOU TURNIP. That is despite being tied into ludicrous contracts will sponsors and players when Ashley took over. £37mil lost in Freds last year, so you can guarantee that much at least was going to be lost in the year after that.

We will also have far far less costs going forward. Like I said - Blind to facts mate.

Jinky - Turnover the year Ashley took over = £87mil.

Turnover this season will be on par with that without the Carroll money.

How much would Shephards debts be right now if you included the interest on them, would they be more than Ashers 'debts'?

Genuine question because I dont have a clue

RE: Ashley has actually done well

Probably not because if its true we were heading for administration wouldnt the debt be wiped out. Whats stopping a club like Liverpool going into administration taking the 10 points deduction they still would be in the top 6 in the league.

RE: Ashley has actually done well

Rotti - Ashley has put in around £280mil.

As for Liverpool or whoever going into admin - they wouldn't do it because not only do you lose at least 10 points, the administrators remit is to get as much money in from sales of anything and everything. That generally means you lose any player worth more than a disposable lighter. Which generally means relegation.
Should have said £6mil, V. That's just £6mil MORE than when he started, which is a fucking marvellous achievement given we are no worse off on the pitch.

If those figures you quoted above are correct.
