Am I the only one who doesn't rate him, he's not very good at anything a winger should be. He's quick but never seems to go past a man like say jonas does, his touch is awful and doesn't put in a decent cross, gets caught in possession and can't score

Maybe i'm being too harsh on him as he's quite young but he's got alot to improve on imo

Maybe that's why his other clubs got rid. He has added an injection of pace which is welcome, however everything you have said, so far, is self evident. Pity.

I'm sure he's got about 8 or 9 assists for us this season in a handful of games. I think he's better than you are giving him credit for. He's an outlet on the right which we've been screaming out for since Nobby.

Not noticed that we're a better team with than without him?

He's balanced the side out now admittedly but thats because he's a winger, and was bound to give us that. Being a good winger and balncing the side out are two very different things

Has he really got 8 or 9 assists ?

I think you are being a little harsh on the lad.

He is very quick, that in itself makes full backs think twice about bombing forward.

He does go past his man frequently.

His crossing is a little erratic but then so are all wingers outside of the top clubs.

He has plenty of direct assists already, both from crosses and tidy through balls.

Granted he has not done it in the PL in the past, but I am hoping and almost expecting that next season he will.

he's better at the defence splitting pass than he is at crossing.....he's put some fuckin crackin balls through for Lovenkrands........

he's the kind of player that needs someone on his wavelength .....to be fair he's probbly what we needed when Owen was here

He's a bit of a jigsaw though isn't he - he goes to piecees in the box. His finishing is piss poor.

Good point - Agree entirely!!

The way I see it, is that I dont remember any newly promoted sides coming up with the likes of Jonas & Routledge on either wing.

I would be happy to leave them to it next season, and concentrate on bringing in a forward and central midfielder.

Yeah I'm sure I read that somewhere. It may have been over the season including QPR...but pretty sure it was just for us.

He's fast as fuck, can cross (sometimes) and his through balls are brilliant.

Shame about his finishing. And his short passes aren't always brilliant. And he gets tackled in midfielf a bit too often.

Not a chance Steve guti and Guthrie win alot more
u watch him in thr air when the balls played high he stands and watches the defenders head it
seen him doing that at least a dozen times in the last couple of matches

True dat, so it is.

Tbf, he's never going to win any headers. He's a midget and doesn't have the leap that Martins/Tino had.

I never said it was about winning headers
it's about being aggressive!
Which is what we wanna see, he pulls out of tackles and that needs to stop
but as I said he's a good signing

As far as I can tell, Routledge has been an excellent addition to our squad. Before the January transfer period we were crying out for a forward thinking midfielder who could pick out the runs of Lovenkrands and Hughton went out and found him. Our attacking options are so much more potent with Routledge's defence splitting passes, as the wingplay of Jonas, the fullback attacks of Jose, the aerial strength of Carroll, the late runs into the box of Nolan and the setpiece ability of Guthrie and Barton, we are more than capable of creating opportunities against even the meanest of defences.

I think he's been a cracking signing.

According to the league stats (which I presume include his QPR assists) he is the second most prolific provider in the league, with 13 assists.

Some more stats for the geeks within:

NUFC without Routledge : win 56%, Lose 17%, draw 27%
NUFC with Routledge : win 69%, Lose 6%, draw 25%

NUFC goals per game without Routledge : 1.367
NUFC goals per game with Routledge : 2.375

Since coming to the club we have scored 38 goals, of which he has scored 1 and provided 9, so instrumental in over a quarter of our goals.
