Not true, assuming nufcfinances.org or whatever they were called weren't just making up numbers during Shepherd's reign and were actually using the club's own published figures we we're overspending turnover to the tune of about 10 million a year after we sacked SBR, or - in other words - the inept turd banked on Champion's League money.

You also say that they were secured loans that only became repayable after SJH left - they were secured against future attendances, on a 10 year loan taken in 2001. So next year they would have to have been repaid, the only way we could have done that would be to either asset strip a la Ashley or hope the banks were mug enough to give us another loan to pay off their last loan. And you may have noticed, as a businessman, the banks aren't being quite as stupid with their loans as they were ten years ago. So, in summary, next year we'd have been fucked.

However if by "any debt the club could get into now" you meant using Ashley's policy of not spending more than chump change on players and wages, then yes you're right.

And i heard that Ashley will take most of that money from sky and prem league as he loaned the club something like 130mil and wants it back..

And still got the fucking cheek to ask for like 300mil or 200mil if he sells it..

Unless he's paying off the loan (to himself) so that the club don't owe him any more, and will then look to sell for £100m still...

Hmmmm thinking about it, the price should go up, if he clears the club of any debt/loans.

A debt free club is obviosuly more valuable.

But with all the money he has pocketed and the parachute payment from this season how much is Ashley down on his initial investment.

And even if we come straight back down he will have another £60m from sky for next seasons run in the premier league and the parachute payment again to look forward to along with a smallish wage bill compared to many in the premier league.

my point was as you say banks wont lend to the excesses of the past and so we couldnt get into the debt we have seen before

and for all Shepherd dodgy deals we still turned up and filled the place
