You are playing for the toon...

Dont get excited, we havent had a sudden rush of injuries or swine flu.

Something Quinny said on Talkshite this afternoon made me think (makes a change)

The mighty one was asked what the worst injury was in his career following a discussion about Dean Ashtons early retirement and he recounted an injury at Pompey while playing for Newcastle. He said that although Newcastle were 3-0 down with not long to go a ball came along the goal on a wet pitch that he knew he could score with but also knew he couldnt avoid a collision with the post in scoring. He duly scored, we lost 3-1 and he injured ligaments keeping him out for 2 months.

My question is.... In the same position would you score and take the injury or save yourself and give the goal up, knowing you had saved yourself a while on the sidelines?

Personally Im not sure you have the time to consider this in the 'heat of the moment' but say you did would you take the match situation into account?

I remember Mickey Quinn getting smashed in a collision between him, their goalie and their defender, he got up and walked away and the keeper was stretchered off and the defender had extensive treatment on the pitch. Sure it was a Div 2 game and I think they were in green, Plymouth perhaps????
