Watched him last nite for Leeds, poor first touch, bit lazy, poor positioning, not that quick, can see why a bigger team has'nt come in for him before, hope we don't make a move for him in Jan, he's not the player for us, would love to be proved wrong like!

Didnt watch it but the more I hear of folks that have watched him the less I see the point in taking a punt on him.

We clearly have enough in our locker to score goals, so loan signings for cover will do us until the summer. Then I think we need to really get a proven goalscorer, and pay accordingly.

He has lots of goals granted, but given he is playing for a move you would imagine the first thing he needs to sort out is a committed performance on the pitch - regardless of opposition.

Well i think we need some striker with pace because apart from Ranger who else has pace upfront for us maybe Lovenkrands has pace, but if we want to go up we need another striker because players like Carroll are good but not good enough to see us promoted.

leave well alone. We need strengthening in other ireas before we think about up front.

Carroll/Harewood/Lovenkrands/Ranger/Nolan are not outstanding by any means, but at this level they are more than capable of doing a job.

PS... not like you Viana to instantly dislike a player. Big Grin

Says it all about our strikers when a midfielder is top scorer we are not strong enough up front for me like.

True but i still will never forgive him for dropping us in the shite m8 nomatter how much people try and convince me otherwise.

In my opinion him leaving cost us our premier league status simply because the points he would have saved us would have been enough to keep us up.

Ashley cost us our premierleague not given owen or anyone else.

The same can be argued that colo cost us our prem league status by not being solid at the back. That guti cost us our PL status by not creating. And that owen oba and fat cuntuka cost us our status by not scoring goals.

Ultimately Ashley stripped our team of it's best players. Robbed us of our best manager, gave us kinnear, wouldn't spend money and demotivated everything associated with nufc.

Im not disputing Ashley is to blame as if KK was still here we would still be in the premier league but Given is much better than Harper personally i think we would have stayed up if he was still here.

I don't think so. I personally blame fatty.

I remember plenty on here saying harper was a much better goalie...

Something about givens kicking and coming for crosses

i agree with OP on beckford, he was one of the reasons i watched the match, and i found it very interesting that in last nights match he only picked up his game when that Grella lad came off the bench (who i was very impressed with). For a lad who has pace in abundance i didn't see he use effectivly, i would much prefer to see him off the shoulder of the 2 CB's not starting a few yards behind them. Yes he got 2 goals in 2 matches which is all you can ask of a striker (which i have said about previou strikers) but i am really unsure about taking a punt on him, and the reports of an huge ego and being a troublemaker doesn't make it any easier to make a decision.
