I agree with furry, anyone with an ounce of sense knows if the future is HOughton the future is very bleak. Great coach, great at this level, nothing more and nothing less. Doing a cracking job and long may it continue, but he will be found out if we go up.

How the hell do you know Shearer will carry us well past the lie m8 if his 8 games in charge have anything to go by we are fucked if he got the job.

People are giving praise to Hughton on his time as manager NOW not what could happen in the future. As ive said in a load of threads i dont rate Hughton as a manager but Shearer has only 8 games experience as a manager and that was pretty much a disaster.

Let him cut his teeth somewhere else and if he proves himself let him have the job but he could end up like Ince/B.Robson/Keane great players but fucking shite managers.

I for one dont want to be calling Shearer in 12 months time because we are bottom of the premier league, for me he shouldnt come here as manager let his Legend status remain, i dont want it tainted by his possibility of being a fucking gash manager.

thing is though hughton isnt the fucking manager. its obvious the players are running the show and ashley said he is incharge of tranfers. which leaves hughton with coaching. hes a fucking coach with a fancy title and fair play to him for getting on with things and not upsetting the apple cart like other "big names" would do if they came in right now. like what happened the last 8 games of last season

As much as I appreciate houghton as coach and think he is doing a great job. Long term I think shearer is the answer.

And I bet the fans on here now signing his praises. Will be slating him if we get promoted and lose a game or 2.

Shearer was thrown in the deep end. With a shit team. He can't be judged on 8 games of management. Sir bobby had a difficult start as manager too becuase like shearer he inherited a shit team.

The likes of souness Inherited a great team and went on an 9 or 10 game winning streak. Judging by that he was a great manager then was he?

Shearer is the man for our long term future.

But why bring in a manager with only 8 games experience why not try and go for a better manager like Houllier if we gain promotion.

Why do we settle for 2nd best all the time when it comes to managers. We have had 2 decent managers here KK/SBR but for most of our time we have had shite managers.

And with Ashley as owner no money will be made available for players so who in their right minds would manage a team with restrictions in place like that.

Says who llambias?

Shearer at the moment is the only decent candidate that wants the job. People can go on about koeman houillier and many other names but thr reality is they wouldn't touch newcasle with a barge pole.

So we all agree, no manager worth his salt would touch the Newcastle Job..

Which show us, Hughton has no fucking ambition at all, he's just fucking happy to be in work...! ! !

It's important not to slate houghton he's doing a good job. But a year down the line he should not be managing nufc. Simple as shearer was and still is the only man for the job.

Again what are Shearers credentials to be our manager viana. You keep banging on about him but he has had only 8 games in management. The only time id like to see Shearer back is with his boots on or when he has proven he is a good manager.

It baffles me as to why people think Shearer is the only man for NUFC just because he's a fucking Geordie.

I dont particularly think Hughton is much cop but he has more experience that Shearer. IF we are bought no doubt any new owner will want the fans onside straight away hence Shearer will be our next manager which i think is wrong, we should be going for the best man for the job not a person who was a Legend as a player but who has 8 games experience.

The real answer is viana doesn't have a clue. Shearers the right man 'long term'. What if he loses his first 5 games? Also do you think Shearer wold come back with Ashley in charge?

To be a long term manager you need a proven track record which Shearer doesn't have

Ok ok I'm totally wrong houghton is the way forward and is a world class manager with bags of coaching experience after a long and established playing career, he is, as many people said months ago is the only manager for the job.

Alan who?

Again mac it is my opinion that shearer is the man to lead us to where we want to be.

Simple as. And mostly on his heart for our club, his dedication and the fact that he would r a fantastic manager if given the chance/resources.

Think i must be missing something because not many people wanted Hughton as manager but he is manager and will be till we either get bought out or we have some sort of horrendous rest of the season and dont gain promotion.

Quote:shearer is the man to lead us to where we want to be

Where exactly do we want to be ??? IF its just promotion it looks like Hughton is doing a canny job of trying to get us there. You cant possible be thinking of finishing in the top 6 IF we gain promotion as believe me that will not happen.
