As in you don't have to pay off some numb nuts like McClaren when you take over......like when Ashley bought.

Also the feel good factor that Rafa brought (which is now being eroded by Ashley) would add a few pennies to the bottom line of merchandise and food and beverage sales.

In what way does Rafa affect the valuation of the club ??

A club with a world class manager is worth more than one without.

It all depends I suppose...

While Benitez is about the best we can hope for under Ashley, it could well be a case of new owners (willing to invest a shitload) might still want a man of their own choosing

I also think that any potential buyer would not be interested in paying for us while there is a 'feel good' factor as that would obviously inflate the price

The way I see it is...52,000 happy with the manager is not the best environment for getting a good deal as a buyer

Definitely Mac.

From a buyers point of view, the best time to buy us would have been when we last got relegated.

The club would have been far cheaper, and although there was a bit of buzz around Rafa possibly staying, it hadn't been confirmed.

So a cheaper club and an ideal opportunity to make an instant statement by keeping Rafa (I know we managed it under Ashley, but none of us expected it at the time - if a new owner came in and signed him on, we'd have thought that was all down to them - no chance Rafa stays under Ashley) and quickly bounce back to the Premier League.

Trouble is - Ashley wouldn't sell at that point. For him, it was worth staying around for another season even making a small loss in the process, knowing that the value of the club will rocket up if we do get back to the PL.

Ashley takes the gamble each season that everything will be alright next season

Only the fans can make that a much more difficult gamble to take

Over the moon with this signing like. Pfft

I don't think many fans are exactly knocking one out over rondon, but we can only give him a chance to show what he can do, just as we did with Xisco (ha), Luque, Cordone, Guivarc'h, Andersson, Chucky, dejong, kuqi, Doumbia, Riviere, joselu etc.

who knows...maybe Stavely is willing to wait until Rafas contract is up to see if there is any kind of kick off and move in on the cheap

its about the best I can hope for at the minute

Ashley is doing his best to get Rafa to walk, so he can bring Allardyce in.

Dot Com are reporting that Dwight Gayle's reluctance to go to a Championship side on less money is hampering the Rondon swap deal.

The release clause has 'expired' apparently.

Surely that's wrong. You'd be in with a shout for Grealish or Zaha for that kind of money. That's two and a half Joselu''s as they say round here .

At proper market value, I would say it was 25 Joselus.

It is a joke how long it has taken to get this done.

I don't understand how it is a loan deal though - isn't he in the last year of his contract? What if he doesn't sign an extension at WBA, can we just sign him for nowt at the end of the loan?
