I think this little article blows your theory well and truly out of the water

There are buyers out there but Ashley is hampering a sale by being unrealistic when it comes to the terms of the sale

Wouldn't it be nice if the fans could give him a little push??

He can't believe his luck: He overpaid for an advertising hoarding which keeps appreciating in value despite the lack of maintenance…

RE: FAO LL

Far from blowing my view out of the window, if you read the article again and take your blinkers off.

Buyers want a relegation clause, so therefore they are negative tire kickers.

If they were genuine buyers they would have either bought the club in the summer, making the relegation clause unnecessary or buy it now and back the manager, as we are not in the relegation zone.

Or are they unconfident of the manager and their own player purchasing skills.

Either way, like I say tire kickers.

Put up the money and the club is theirs.

Apart from anything else it's interesting to see just how far you are willing to go to defend Ashley

Fuck me - a potential buyer is asking for a relegation clause put in there somewhere - imagine that - how fuckin mad is that if they are genuinely interested?

Bearing in mind what the Sons of Struth have already told us - do you think any buyer will be getting 100% of NUFC?

Or do you think there will be tie ins in there to include advertising and merchandise for Sports Direct?

RE: FAO LL

I’m not defending Ashley, just looking at the available information and providing a view that is quite reasonable.

If you were selling a car and the buyer wanting a crash clause, where if they fuck up and crash you have to pay them back, you wouldn’t sell it.

Why should Ashley agree to a relegation clause or for that matter any clause, can you explain that to me?

It should be cash for the club at a price everyone agrees and no comebacks.

The only subject to the deal should be due diligence where the books are fully opened and any deals Ashley has signed the club up to visible.

If they find something then by all means they can pull out.

That way your Rangers comparison is covered, as if they find the fat cunt has us signed up to riduculous tie ins with SD, it would be found out.

RE: FAO LL

That’s no answer and I had already seen it.

Firstly, according to some on here there are plenty of buyers, just lining up to buy NUFC, so why didn’t they buy it in the summer or last summer even, when a relegation clause wouldn’t be required?

Secondly, if someone buys it now, prior to the January window, with us currently outside the relegation places, then are we saying they won’t be capable of providing funds for Rafa to ensure there is little to no chance of relegation, therefore again no clause required.

What is so difficult for people to understand?

The key reason is these buyers are figments of people’s imagination, because we are all desperate for it to be true.

If they are there and they are unwilling to buy now without any clauses, I’d actually be very worried as to who they are and the financial clout they have.

You make some fair points LL but I also see why a potential buyer would be asking for certain 'assurances' depending on when the actual deal may go through.

Subsequent articles that I've read on the subject say that Ashley's reluctance to budge is hampering a couple of deals right now though

It's not true to say that buyers are a figment of peoples imagination either - Stavely put together three offers which were dismissed. Ultimately leading to Ashley breaking off negotiations

I will be fuckin amazed if the deal on the table means a clean break from Sports Direct though. The club may be up for sale but he isn't a willing seller

Thats where the fans could have a real say - its just a pity they don't have the appetite to even attempt to push him out of the door

RE: FAO LL

If Staveley has bid what he wanted with no clawback clauses, the deal would have been done.

Why didn’t she close the deal this summer?

I suspect she doesn’t have the access to sufficient funds, to make the deal happen, otherwise it would have been done this summer.

As for the fans appetite for getting rid of Ashley, we can’t force him to accept less for his asset, whether we like it or not.

Crowds dropped 10,000 give or take on our first relegation, yet he remained.

Because he knew it was shit or bust

10,000 down on PL season would have him sit up and take notice

RE: FAO LL

Perhaps, still it took an entire season to get crowds back up.

I doubt the crowds would drop that much in PL......unless Rafa goes, then you might see 20,000 drop.
