RE: Mathematically safe

Job done thank goodness. Now all we need to do is win our last 3 games and end up with 50 points. Maybe not more like end up with what we have now.

RE: Mathematically safe

we look so impressive when benitez just allows them to attack....inviting southampton to attack us and trying to hold on to the 2-0 lead in the second half, was just soooooooooo benitez and sooooooo friggin predictable.....we got away with it but now please we are safe.....let's fucking lose the negative containment shite and just lets show teams what we can do to them instead of worrying what they can do to us...pleeeeeeaaase. Mathematically safe

Its so similar to last season...

Cautious, containment football first half last season then Dubravka and Kenedy came in and the shackles were taken off

Same thing this season with Almiron

Could we have been relegated if it weren't for him? - possibly

Could we have been safer sooner and pushed on further if it weren't for him? - possibly

Just another 3 seasons of nothingness is the way I view his time here

RE: Mathematically safe

In the last 27 PL games we have conceded less than Man Utd and Arsenal, and the same as Chelsea.

That is simply incredible.

He has worked fucking miracles.

Mathematically safe

How many points have those teams got compared to us in the last 27 PL games?

Setting up a team to be ultra defensive is not simply incredible

Eh, i said last 27 games.

This place is a bit weird when it comes to the Rafa criticism, thankfully it doesn't represent the majority of the fan base.

We all want him to stay, in fact i will be renewing if he does....but not everyone thinks the sun shines out of his arse like you do, he makes mistakes, he's only human ffs and a lot of the performances have been a bit naff, I've seen on the dippers forums their fans criticising Klopp for this and that, no manager is above criticism TA.

It seems OTT though, you'd think he was doing a bad job reading some of the stuff on here.

RE: Mathematically safe

Well he’s done another good job this season again I don’t think anyone would dispute that fact. His style of football suits us most of the time although I must admit I have enjoyed watching us attack more recently the first half v Southampton showed how effective we can be.

when i see a team that can't do the basics like pass the ball to each other when the manager has been here for 3 years.....I will criticise the manager.

No, getting rid of Ashley is more important.

If he somehow signs a new contract i might like.

Aye i know i've just contradicted myself but i dunno anymore.

RE: Mathematically safe

Our negativity is dependent on which players we have available. If we had Almiron from the start of the season or Kenedy playing to best form, we wouldn't have been so negative.

Rafa hasn't worked miracles he's done well though with decent players playing well. Previous managers incompetence has made Rafa appear to be a miracle worker.

RE: Mathematically safe

It actually makes me feel physically sick when i think we've got the best manager in our history (cv) who is desperate to stay and even willing to compromise, and this absolute horrible bellend actively trying to get rid of him to bring in another yes man from the MMM

Why always us

RE: Mathematically safe

the thing with Benitez is hes consistent

he keeps it simple and plays to the strengths of the players. when they fail to deliver its poor, when they respond and play well its much better

RE: Mathematically safe

Fair comment depends who we are up against especially this season. Last season we won a few games against top 6 teams. This year we had that great result v City but have lost all other games v top 6. We have beaten most teams around us which has ensured our safety. We have only been thumped in one of those games v Liverpool close in others but no cigar. You are correct he plays to our strengths. When we click we look quite good when we don’t we are average at best along with the other 13 clubs outside the top 6.
