RE: RAFA

Sounds like he's smitten, but can't allow his heart to rule his head,... He should be demanding everything be done his way, he clearly is ambitious wants to compete with the best for trophies and titles and not fucking about with Mike Ashley's lies and deceit all the time.

RE: RAFA

I believe the more he sees exciting motivating champions and europa league games the more his head will be turned. Charnley and Ashley will have to give a lot not just in transfer fees to get Rafa over the line,

RE: RAFA

Rafa should have known the situation from the start. Ashley has been consistent about not spending more than the club generates and the short term loan was always public knowledge.

It's expected £60mil is the budget plus what we can get for any offloading. That's 2 x Kenedys! Where could Rafa get us to finish with this if he stays?

He seemed in a good mood in his presser again.

I don't know what to make of it.

About what?

Ambition? I think a bit of a meet in the middle is the best we can hope for, Rafa said that in his last pre game presser.

I think Rafa hoped he could eventually get us challenging for CL places when he first came, now i think it's no relegation scrap and try and win a cup, with the hope that Ashley still might fuck off at some point.

11 years of Ashley, including 3 and a bit seasons with Rafa - I see no cause for optimism at all

These talks should have been a piece of piss with any owner wanting to progress

He does not have any interest in progressing, but he does have an interest in staying up next season and now understands that he needs benitez to stay just to achieve that

RE: RAFA

Obviously we need a decent striker and a couple of other quality players which there is no reason why we can't. The money is there to be spent. There are no short term loans to pay off. There are no Dennis Wises or Kinnears to f it up. Charnley has been able to bring good players in previously so no reason why not this time. Ashley appears to have a manager agent to find a Rafa alternative if Rafa doesn't sign. 2 or 3 good players will make us a solid premier league team so I'm confident we wouldn't be worrying about relegation next season without Rafa. I really don't think Ashley's philosophy is to just stay up. The finances are ok now ish. Ashley just needs to make sure he employs competent people from now on.

Spending within means. He gave McClaren a big wedge when available. This wasn't to finish 17th.

Although mcclown is a useless cunt he did serve a purpose in the sense he finally got it through Mike's thick fucking skull that just to secure the clubs premiership status he has to cough up the going rate for a decent manager

RE: RAFA

the penny finally dropped.............., pay the going rate for a decent manager, therefore less investment in players, based on the theory that decent managers can improve the performances of cheaper players just enough to avoid relegation.

RE: RAFA

As far as I'm aware Ashley isn't psychic. He tries to find a decent manager as do most owners. He's been learning on the job! Paying top dollar for a good manager doesn't mean we sacraficing our player quality target level as buying crap costs more in the long term. It's amazing how incompetent some managers can be.
