Trying to be as positive as possible..

...Ashley is a cunt and I won't change my mind on that.

However trying to be as positive as I can be;

We have reduced debt and reduced wage bill.

The club is leaner and in a much better position than we were a year ago for surviving in the Premiership.

Collocini, Guttierez and Enrique have improved dramatically - now for the test of doing so in the Premiership.

We have some good youngsters in the squad - Carroll, Kadar, Ranger.

There is one major thing we have now that was sadly lacking last season and that is team spirit.

I put that down to getting rid of the selfish money is only thing that matters players from the squad, such as Owen, Viduka, Duff & Martins.

If Hughton can sign some equally unfashionable players such as Williamson (prepared to admit I was wrong about him, he has impressed me with his no nonsense approach to defending) to strengthen our midfield and attack, then I think we should be able to stay up and potentially push for a top ten finish, which would be a good start, along with a decent cup run if we can avoid drawing the usual tough away assignments we always seem to get.

We should be able to get full houses next season to cheer the lads on, just wish people would get behind the team more, instead of turning up and just expecting things to happen - we need to make St. James' intimidating - I would suggest Ashley could help on this score by creating a second singing section with loosened rules on standing in the Gallowgate corner and perhaps move the current singing section into a lower part of the ground so the atmosphere can build better - they are too high up at the moment.

Let's all pull together and with a bit of luck we might suprise ourselves.

I have accepted the fact we are light years off where we would like to be and that Ashley will be frugle in the transfer market, but with a good team spirit and a support fully behind the team it can work - look at Stoke City - not pretty to watch and I am not advocating we start playing like them, but their support is vociferous, the players react to that and get stuck in and put pressure on the ball when they don't have it, making it a very difficult place to go.

We need to do our bit and it will then rub off on the players.

With a few home cup draws thrown in and if Ashley prices them sensibly - I would suggest between £5 & £10 a ticket we can have a good cup run.

Fuck me I surpised myself on the positivity there.

We're Newcastle and we're gonna win the league, gonna win the league, gonna win the league.

With 4,150 travelling down on Saturday, can't wait for the weekend!

He doesn't deserve to be in the team, he hasn't took his chances when he has played.

Was just about to post that.

Ranger has had plenty of chances and has yet to prove his worth.

I think in time he will and for that reason I would keep him and try to improve his game.

Yet Ranger still has scored 2 goals where as best couldnt hit a barn door if it was in front of him.

Noone is disputing Best is shyte, I think even Hughton has realised that - that is why he is not playing him.

Best should be sold in the summer.

Quote:The Mackems are not much better than us

As bad as they have been id still put money on them beating us because they have a few decent players especially Bent.

Bent is a good player, but go through their side one by one and honestly would you have any of their others, other than perhaps Richardson?

Ranger has had a lot more time to get them 2 goals though Rotti.

Good post LL. (The opening post)

Agree with all that.

You mention in that post about the wasters and include Duff - and while I agree that we are better off without him - how different would things have been if he hadn't earned us that point at the Hawthorns?

Frazier Campbell - not his biggest fan, Kenwyne Jones - plays one good game in 5 or 6, Cattermole is shyte and was at his previous clubs, just a clogger no real skill at all, rarely scores - no better than that shitbag we have Smith, Anton Ferdinand one of the most over-rated defenders in the country, not a big fan - all of our centre halves are better.

Bent - I'll give you that one, I do think he is a quality striker.

i don't see the fuss about bent.. he does the samething every season scores a few early goals then dissappears until the last few games of the season... he is quick... but he is crap in general play. I'd rather have Carroll tbh

He has more than 20 premier league goals in a struggling team.

He is quick, good in the air and can finish.

Very good forward for me like.

Think there are very few Premiership strikers who have scored more than him in last 5-6 seasons.
