Actually, we did offer him a new contract. Two new contracts, in fact. He didn't sign either, and I doubt we could afford to offer him a third.

He probably does have a few clubs after him. However they will either be proper shit like Hull/Wigan et all or a payday in the vein of LA Galaxy/Sydney FC

He was about to sign it, but supported Keegan in his stance against the Club

that contract he could have signed in january for 80k a week for 3 years,..he must have know we would go down or he might have signed it there and then,..he would be gone any way now as we can`t pay him those wages now, but had we stayed up i reckon he would have possibly stayed

yup. what might have been. with Shearer's retirement and Owen going I very much doubt we'll be seeing an England forward at SJP for many years.

I for one am very sorry things did not work out for him here. For keeping us in the Prem in season 07/08 he showed his capabilities.

Ho hum.

We have a habit of fucking up players. My namesake for one but

- we didn't make him play in the world cup when he wasn't fit
- we didn't make him injured
- we spent millions on him. We backed him. Paid him. Played him.

Throughtout his time here
- he never once comitted his future to us
- his brouchure blames us
- he was an ungrateful cunt

its a professional sport and he is still young enough to win trophies at a decent club set up. At this moment in time our club is an almight fuck up. I don't blame the lad one bit. He is just the first of many who will go - I doubt whether even players "we are supposed to like", eg. Bassong, Beye, Oba will stick about.
So what does that make them? Mercenary?

There has never been much club loyalty in professional football. The only reason there was in the past was due to the maximum wage. Big Al was the exception that proved the rule, and he gets crucified to this day in the media for not showing enough ambition and "playing for himself".

Its all bollocks and 99% of the players honestly couldn't give a fuck who pays them.

erm didnt he commit to our cause in January and state he wouldnt leave us at our time of need.

his brochure identifies where the club went wrong, a lack of creativity, something we all knew, and for those who didnt Mr Keegan said it on numerous occasions.

ive not read anything in which he is ungrateful or a cunt.

as for the money, we offered it to him and he accepted, just as you would if offered a ludicrous ammount to do your job.

he wanted to represent his country, just as anytone would.

most peoples angst is about money, when the club offered it and he accepted

get over it, theres been bigger wastes of money and will be others in the future

I've gone right off Owen. I thought he looked disinterested in the last few key games for us. Even his "bessy mate" Shearer dropped him.

But, you can't blame Owen for:

1. His injuries
2. The fact the press from day one tried to drive a wedge between him, the fans and the club
3. The transfer fee, which the club could ill afford
4. The contract that was given to him.

Now I think I can hazard a guess at who's fault the last two might of been........

As for Hugo Vianna.....the bloke was one of those players who show promise at a young age and stopped developing.

When he went back to Portugal he was still a fat lazy bearded waste of space.
