I don't think he's shite, just not that good.

We wouldn't have been saying that had their keeper not saved that header of his.

I have to admit it, Viana was right.

Expect him to score a hat trick now, also he's too similar to AC for him to be effective, as was said about harewood when he was playing alongside AC.

AC is doing fantastic alongside lova which is unfortunate for besty as he probably won't play with lova.

The people I play for not getting the best out of him are the management, who didn't learn their lesson when harewood was here that 2 big men upfront do not suit each other

Rotti I usually agree with you mate but I don`t know about that.
Thing is I don`t think Best is up to it at all from what I`ve seen so far BUT he`s had around 8 games to be judged where as Amatrocious has had 10 PAINFUL years at the club, now he is woeful!

Aye that is true m8 but Ameobi has been playing in the premier league for most of this time where as Best haws been plying his trade in the lower leagues.

Aye Ameobi isnt the best not by a long shot but he to me is head and shoulders a better player than Best.

I have to admit it, Viana was right.

I stand by my point. He is shite. He will not accept responsibility, he had a chance for a one on one with the keeper in the 1st half and bottled it, preferring to pass, and mishit an admittedly difficult volley. In the 2nd half he had 1 decent header. He doesn't make himself available, he doesn't make runs taking defenders away, and i'll put money on the fact that his name was mentioned no more than half a dozen times in the whole match. Carroll ran miles, won headers, chased defenders down in the cause, whilst Best stood and watched him.
To use an old saying "He couldn't score in a brothel with a pocketful of diamonds".
Utter shite, in fact worse, spineless utter shite.

I have to admit it, Viana was right.

Wayne Routledge was also a Hughton signing.

Mike Williamson was also a Hughton signing.

Patrick Van Annholt was a Hughton signing.

Hughton also resigned Lovenkrands.

All very good signings in my book.

Well thats the league we are in at the moment.

Bit unfair to judge his abilitys in the transfer market on one player though.

I knew Besty was shite
although I mist admit lova has proved me wrong thus far, he probably won't do well in PL buy certainly this season he has done .
Although 2 other players I called NFFTS williamson and harewood I stand by.
The same way I was slated when calling viduka an owen the same, give it time and williamson will be found out. And I won't mention fitz hall. I mean fitz hall pulling on a nufc shirt. Ridiculous IMO.

Shola ....

Disagree: Best couldn't even get himself caught offside whereas Stroller's got that down to a fine art.

He looked completely clueless yesterday and judging by his runs into space, he's got a bad case of agoraphobia.

My thoughts exactly. I hadn't seen enough of Best to form much of an opinion about him previously beyond what I'd read on here, but when a striker has a good opportunity to take a shot and ducks the responsibility, it isn't a good sign at all.

I remember when he first signed and he didn't want the number nine shirt, at the time I could kind of understand him not wanting to appear presumptuous and thought it displayed a refreshing humility. On this evidence though I wonder if it was not so much humility as low self esteem as a player, which is the absolute last thing you want in a striker. He doesn't look like a player with much in the way of self belief, where we needed him to come in and stick a marker down straight away and look like he means business. Instead he looks like a rabbit in the headlights wondering how he ended up playing for a club of this size. I feel a bit sorry for him, but he needs to sort his head out, fast, or he'll get chewed up and spat out.

Best We should get shot asap, a player that can't score in mickey mouse league won't have a chance in PL

routledge pace will be a big plus next season
my only critique of him is in the air.
He challenges for about 4 or 5 headers half heartedly and I know he's a small guy, but bit more commitment but I like him as a player.
Best I've seen in a green shirt many times, and If we paid 1m for him it's a disgrace.

I get the impression he is a little overawed playing for the mighty NUFC. It is a big step up for the lad, and we could be saying exactly the same thing about Beckford if he signed.

The problem he has is that he has had to prove himself ver quickly in a winning side.

If I am being honest I was ultra critical of Carroll earlier in the season and am happy to eat my words, yum yum yum. So the idea that someone suddenly goes from a player who can find the net 10 times in the first half of a season like Best to a waster is probably a bit harsh.

wether he'll hack it in the Prem is another kettle of fish.
