I'd agree with that, but take Joe Cole instead of Lennon.

As for starting XI, I'd go for either;

Robinson
Neville/Ferdinand/Terry/Cole
Carrick
Walcott/Gerrard/Lampard/Joe Cole
Rooney

Or;

Robinson
Neville/Ferdinand/Terry/Cole
Walcott/Gerrard/Lampard/ Joe Cole
Rooney/(any other striker)

The very same 2 lineups mate!!!

Aside from Joe Cole of course, I like him but if he has been cream crackered all season, and still not getting much playing time, he would be a risk.

Aye I'm saying Joe Cole in the hope he returns to fitness over the next few months, similar to Walcott who has been out for a while and just coming back.

I would have too, but I don't like Barry.

Plus I was thinking if Carrick is good enough to play that role for Man United then he's good enough to play for England.

But either of them would do just as good a job as the other I suppose.

Why do we have such crap keepers and why isn't Harper getting a mention. He's certainly better than Green, and maybe Robinson.

World Cup 23?

Joe Hart is, in my opinion, the best English keeper playing at the top level. With Green, James and Robinson all at the twilight of their careers I feel it's the perfect opportunity to hand the number 1 slot to Hart and hope he keeps his standards high. If he does, I see no reason why he can't command that position for the next decade. He is very young and will only get better.

I also deliberately left Glen Johnson out because, although he is a decent right back, I don't think the qualities he has will be needed at the World Cup. His major strenghths are the attacking side of the fullback role, where he overlaps and gets to the bye-line to support the right winger. That may be necessary if Beckham was playing in front of him but this summer the right winger for England will be either Walcott, SWP or Lennon, all of who have pace in abundance and will not need the 'support' of the full back. I expect Walcott to start and there's no way he will need GJ overlapping as the main asset to HIS game is getting the ball down and running with the fucker. Defensively, Johnson's positional play is shocking and against top quality opponents he will get caught out.

Thats why I went for Gary Neville and Wes Brown. Both of who are positionally sound, both hugely experienced and both will put more emphasis on defensive roles rather than abandoning their position to have a welly from 35 yards, ala Johnson.

hehe

It's too easy to just sit and say 'he's shit' or 'he's class, definatley in the squad'. Football is a tactical game. Needs thought Wink
