Must say I am really looking forward to the world cup. England probably won't get beyond the semi finals but that Spanish team play some lovely stuff. Spain vs Brazil final I hope.

we estimated in work that henry cost us 8 days leave: the day of each group match and the next day off for recovery, thats 6 matches, then 2 more days for the second round.
then we'd be put out probably.
i want my 8 days back.

the irish should be wondering why Keane missed so many chances in both legs of the decider, and several others in the qualifiers

you can blame the french as much as you want but evrn if the goal has disallowed you hadnt qualified

Perhaps a break from Benitez and Liverpool is just what 'Stevie G' (god I hate that) needs.

He does have to put himself in the shop window Wink

Ireland would have been lucky to score, let alone get through the group stages.

how did we do at previous world cups?
and who have we beaten in major competitions?
all the top teams. ireland perform better against the better teams than the english, who obviosuly have better players, but always freeze against top sides.
italy put us out, netherlands put us out and spain have put us out.

take it easy tab, never said england were a bad side, quite the opposite.
i disagreed that ireland would be there to make up the numbers. unbeaten against the world champions home and away in qualifiers, and playing france off the park in 2 games, isnt bad.

i think beckham being out is a good thing. id like to see gerrard or lampard out as well (not both!)
The england team needs changing and with beckham out means milner, walcott, young could cement the right wing as there own without beckham coming on for them. this will do us good for the future. lampard and gerrard dont work together, never have never will yet no-one changes the line up or formation until it is forced.
We will not win the world cup, not a chance in hell. But with a few young-uns coming through and a few shake-ups then we could have a real go at euro 2012!
I feel sorry for beckham personally but it will benefit the team in the long run

agree about Milner but not the others

they have had chances galore and still look out of their depth and certainly not winners

Milner plays a positive game and looks to get into good positions

For all his age, critics and foes, Beckham is one of the very few players we have who can change a game in an instance, the only other being Rooney, hence the thread title

I can honestly see us failing miserably with Terry and Lampard being shown to be average and nothing more
