It is a privilege to sponsor the club with Virgin Money, and it’s great to see the team bring so much joy to the fans in the north east of England and around the world.

Why do SSN keep saying 'Liverpool have been given permission to talk to Martinez, but as yet have not made an approach for Pardew or Rogers'.

When did they get linked with Pardew like? I have only heard it from Wibble before now??

i am proud to announce alan deffo is staying with nufc and has took a pay cut as i predicted(its all hush hush right now though) in my pards away thread-i clearly stated there were 3 outcomes,pards stays,pards goes or pards is sacked,the pards stays part of my equasion has proved to be correct-wouldnt bet against 1 of the other outcomes in my theory coming true at a later date-

Got a text saying that the transfer is almost agreed. We will receive 2 million and he will earn 45k a week. Almost double his offer from Newcastle. Not from a good source or anything though so may well be bollocks. I am sure Wibble will confirm!

i am playing football at the Champions ground, the Etihad Stadium.

yes my talent at the glorious game has been finally recognised and i am gracing the appropriate stage.

Its a pity its so late in the season but i didnt want to give Roy any dilemmas

i have been selected as a Centre Half on the first game and defensive midfielder in the 2nd, mainly due to my mobility, or lack of it

Im up to offers for my services whilst there, so far ive been offered £25 if i piss on the pitch, from a MUSA fan

Alan Smith ‘spat at and punched’ during play-off pitch invasion

Alan Smith was attacked as he left the field at the Galpharm Stadium last night.

On-loan Smith was “kicked and punched” by jubilant Huddersfield Town fans after their play-off win according to MK Dons manager Karl Robinson.

The midfielder – who controversially left nearby Leeds for Manchester United in 2004 – was abused as he warmed up.

Smith, 31, came off the bench late in the game and gave Robinson’s side hope when he pulled the score back to 2-1 on the night, and 3-2 on aggregate.

“It was embarrassing,” Robinson added.

“The Huddersfield fans were magnificent, and had this place rocking, but it’s one or two muppets – that’s all it is.

“He got spat at, kicked and punched. He’s fine, but you get worse than that. I’ve been brought up in Liverpool!”

The former England international – who joined MK Dons on a half-season loan in January – is out of contract at United this summer.

Alan Pardew hails Chris Hughton role

ALAN Pardew gave a nod to Newcastle United predecessor Chris Hughton as he won the prestigious LMA manager of the year award.

The Magpies boss said winning the award – which is voted for by fellow managers – was the highlight of his career.

However, he acknowledged the role Hughton had played in Newcastle’s continued success.

Accepting the award at a ceremony in London he said: ”You have to put in the foundations for what you think is going to be a successful year. We have done that.

“We had a good base last year and I want to thank Chris who did a good job last year as I inherited a winning spirit.

“There are a lot of a famous names in here and young managers who will tell you winning spirit is very difficult to install.

“I inherited that and a great team, including John Carver.”

The LMA award was richly deserved for Pardew, who invited his entire backroom staff to the ceremony and paid rich tribute to them in his acceptance speech.

He told the club’s official website it was as “good as it gets” for a manager to be acknowledged by his fellow bosses.

Pardew added: “It is an incredible honour to be named Manager of The Year by the League Managers Association.

“Coming from my fellow managers, this really is as good as it gets and has to be the highlight of my managerial career so far.

“This award is not just for me, though. Everything we have achieved at Newcastle United this season has been achieved as a result of an incredible team effort.

“The board, my coaching staff, backroom team, players and our magnificent supporters - they all play a crucial role and I thank every one of them.”
