Car Parking for Wednesday

I've normally always got the train to matches in the past, just wondered where is best place to park, preferably for free (if poss) and without the risk of my car being clamped!

Please help!!

I normally park just off Sctoswood road, near the Arena, where the coach park is.

Yeah, like Tighty says the one in China town is pretty good. You're looking at about £4 for a few hours.

I'd get there sharp mind, gets very busy around there pre match and manouvering a car whilst 40,000 people make their way to the ground is not something anyone should try to do!

In case you don't know how to get there, just go straight along St James' Boulevard after you come off Redhugh Bridge. Keep going along until you come to the end past the Jackie Milburn statue and then turn right at the Barrack Road junction. Follow that road for about 50 yards until you see the geet big Chinatown archway (a nice red oriental do-dah) and then the car park is just along there.

I've never seen it full, even on a match day at 2:40 ! But the bit about trying to avoid hitting fellow geordies is correct.

Multi story by the new RVI wing is 24 hour and secure, costs 1.20 an hour and my eldest, who went to the last wed match, says there was bags of spaces.

Who is allowed to park in the car park at St. James where the players park? I've always wondered, when I've seen them driving up.

Costs about 500 quid a season to park there.
