Michael Owen, Mark Viduka and Obafemi Martins head up Newcastle ditch list
Simon Bird WTF is he on about..
Newcastle are desperate to slash their £73million wage bill - and if they get relegated up to 11 of the biggest earners are sure to be axed, or released.
Michael Owen: Contract up in June - lightening the wage bill by £110,000 a week.
Mark Viduka: Heading back to Australia this summer.
Oba Martins: Value £10m. No lucrative new deal on offer.
Sebastian Bassong: £9m. Keegan buy, wanted by Arsenal.
Alan Smith: £2m. Could be target for Everton again.
Joey Barton: £2m. Wigan are interested.
Damien Duff: £2m. Any takers on his current form and wages?
Geremi: Nominal fee. At £56,000-a-week, he has to go.
Fabricio Coloccini: £8m. Argentina career stalled because of Tyneside switch.
Jonas Gutierrez: £5m. Bigmoney signing, no end product.
Habib Beye: £6m. Injury-prone yet top-notch when fit.
Xisco: £2m. Anticipated huge loss on £5.6m Spanish kid.
Jose Enrique: £4m. In form, but an expensive luxury item.
Meaning ON BEYE AND ENRIQUE....

Aye m8 if we go down Ashley will still make a few quid as the wages will be tiny compared to what they are now and with all the money he rakes in from player sales and the more or less guaranteed 40k next season ST sales he wont be laughing as such but the fans through the doors will keep his money coming in.

Beye has had one injury, caused by a bad tackle, and now he's injury prone?

He's just saying what many on various message boards have predicted.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Barton take a pay cut and stay should we go down. Yes he's a quick tempered lad and a lunatic when drinking but I get the feeling he thinks he has a lot to prove and he owes us big time.
I think he may give us one season in the championship as will Stephen Taylor.
If we do go down and we bring in Bruce as manager (he's gotten promoted twice before) A spine of Harper Taylor Barton Nolan Shola and Carroll should see us competetive in that league.
Add to that the likes of Guthrie Lua Lua Ranger Butt and maybe one or two additions and promotion isn't out of the question.
My worry would be is that squad is not good enough to stay in the premiership as we well know and if Ashley is still here and continues to be away with the fairies as regards football he'll probably think they could transfer their championship form to the premiership and not invest significantly.
What price we get promoted and Bruce walks out after the transfer window.

Aye, think we've got a squad that could get us promoted, but not exactly guaranteed.
A few mackem mates reckon we'll piss the championship, and they know alot about the championship.

its not who leaving that worries me, its who they replace them with thats the bother
this lot have no sense of ambition and the signings made to date stink of cheapness. they are more interested in offering lower money than investing in the squad
we wont piss the championship, there are clubs playing far better football than us who will always be in this league

We'll have a totally different side out, as De Sade pointed out, and I reckon the players we left with would have the quality and the fight to get us back up.
But I wouldn't be putting money on it like.
The championship has no quality at all.

Don't agree with that like.
Wolves starting to come good again, but they aren't consistent, there are a lot of teams in that league throwing away points that they shouldn't be.
EDIT: Actually, I agree they're playing better than us at the minute, that doesn't take much, but then again, they aren't playing Premiership opposition every week.

Of course we won't piss it, I've never heard a mag say we would but we could be competetive and given a manager like Bruce who's done it before promotion wouldn't be out of the question.
We haven't had a manager of note since Kevin left but we have a lot of hungry youngsters and a few pros who will have a lot to prove and some who might just be at their level in the championship and shine.
Like I say though it's should we get promoted that it would more than likely fall apart again under laughing Lambias and the fat controller.

burnley play far better than we do and wont make the premier league, preston are a capable side as are others
hughton isnt capable of getting us out, JFK is a relegation manager and Calderwood is not up to scratch
so our illustrious owner will make sweeping changes to the management team and wholesale changes to the squad and we wil be promoted first time?
does anyone think he is capable of that?

What part of if we brought Bruce in didn't you understand. Apart from that as Richy says you can't compare our form in the premiership without a manager to that of teams facing championship teams every week.

Burnley and Preston might look half decent when they play, but they're just shite palying against other shite.
Burnley did well in the league cup, but wouldn't say they played an attractive style of football against the PL sides.
He won't make huge changes to the squad, in terms of bringing players in, but a lot of the fringe players will come into the side and probably do really well in the championship.
Like I said, I won't be expecting us to come straight back up, but the championship is a poor league and it wouldn't be a mircacle if we did go straight back up.

Exactly.
I wouldn't even put it past Kinnear brining us back up to be honest, worse managers have managed to do a job in the championship in the past. Iain Dowie ffs.
It's just shite compared to the PL.

We dont have the rights to go straight back up if we go down its for a reason as the team arnt good enough or maybe the players are getting paid too much and dont give a shit about newcastle.
either way we got no given right to go straight back up its the same as wolves, QPR who's got more cash than us and prob most of the prem..

Aye...not good enough for PL...it's a totally different league, the Championship.
And the overpaid players will be gone, and younger, hungrier players will get in and probably do ok.
And nobody said we have a given right to go straight back up man, just saying it's not exactly impossible.

Who said anything about having a God given right, just a few opinions as to how we MIGHT go back up.
As for the Lambias Bassong thing, words fail me.

regardless if its right or not, how can any DECENT reporter be present during a meeting when that is stated and then a few weeks later report somthing differently without any proof

I think it was reported before the meeting Basson and Guthrie were Keegan buys and all the Spanish based players were our so-called network's choices

its not a pro ashley/LLambias post, but simply stating that it is a poorly written and poorly researched article with no statements/facts/proof backing up what he has wrote
its simply shite reporting trying to get a rise out of the fans

I think Bassong was actually a bit of both.
Wise, or his 'team', had tracked him, got him in but Keegan wanted the trial first, and then agreed to the signature after a week or two of training with Bassong. Keegan also agreed to Coloccini and Gutierrez, it was just the Xisco and Nacho deals, and the non-signing of a promised Schweinsteiger that forced him out. I think.
