Well Done NUFC.

As a transfers goes, they may not be earth shattering, However 5 decent players in areas we needed to strengthen.

No last minute panic buys, done and dusted days before.

Made for a boring last transfer day, but content in knowing our players are settled and wanted to be here.

Very happy with the players we have signed. A good window though I do think we should have signed a left back. Lets hope we don't pay the price.

Only 4 months to the next window Smile

Also, we can sign out of contract bods at any time. Must be a few decent picks there i'd have thought.

I just wonder if Carolls excellent start has ultimately left us a bit weak upfront in the short term

you have to give credit when its due and i think well done to all concerned for this transfer window. hopefully we can push on and have a decent season. when i say decent, anything barring a struggle will be decent in my view.

RE: Well Done NUFC.

Am sure Carroll will do ok at least this season.

Next summer we will be in a far better position to attract a better quality of player, with our financial state being better than now.

Am happy with our recruits, especially after seeing some of the shyte teams in the opening PL games.

RE: Well Done NUFC.

Lack of another genuine striker is worrying. Even the deadbeats of this league will work out how nullify Carroll eventually, i'd definately thought a punt on Robbie Keane for the season would be worthwhile.

You just have to persuade him, all part of management, after all, if Pulis can tempt Gudjohnson from Monaco to Stoke................................

Tempt him what with..... £80k a week.

No thanks. He made it obvious he didnt want to be here, so he can go ram it.

RE: Well Done NUFC.

Even assuming he's on that, and that's about the same as Ben Arta wanted before he apparently 're-negotiated', we can offer him virtually guaranteed 1st team football. Pretty big temptation for someone needing to play regularly with the /euro qualifiers starting this weekend.
If we formed a list of every player who didn't give a plonk about who they played for, as long as the coin was ok, we'd be here until the next window.

tbf this has definitely been one of our better windows.

I am excited at the prospect of seeing Ben Arfa starting. We have been crying out for an AM since Emre left

Yeah same, mainly the left back. If we'd have signed a striker i bet they would have been no better that what we have now.

No, but its not like we are as attractive as we should be, for now.

We have to hope a couple of our SIX forwards can chip in their fair share this season.

I think they will, even Shola.

RE: Well Done NUFC.

Bear in mind, kiddies, that it is only the transfer window that has shut. Cover for left back and striker can be provided for by loans and/or free transfers, too.

We may not be as finished as we imagine on that score, though I suspect the attitude will be to go as long as we can with what we've got and patch the holes when it becomes necessary, rather than as a precaution.

RE: Well Done NUFC.

I dont think PL clubs can loan any more now either mate, not incoming anyway.

Freebies only until January.

Perhaps we should throw a bone toward Wilfred Bouma? Michael Ball?

I read somewhere that both of them are still without a club?

You can't loan? That's annoying. Oh well, free transfers it is, then.

Not sure about them two, like...

Me neither, if they dont have clubs then they mustn't be up to it.

Cant imagine anyone of note being available at this stage, although that Zebina chap is.

Bouma signed for PSV, I think, and Ball has been out of work for 18 months and no-one offered him even a kickaround? He either wants billions in wages or fucked beyond recognition.

Aye Bouma played against us in the pre season game. Was on trial at the time, didnt know they had signed him like.

Am happy enough with what we have, hopefully we will be comfortable enough come Christmas to not be panicking and throwing coin at the likes of Heskey.

Indeed - was pleased to see Tavernier have an impressive game at right back - while we may technically already have 3 players covering that position none of them are rock solid, so a fourth face won't go amiss.

Very underwhelming as to arrivals, but I'm quite gratified that the fat bastard and his slimy mate have not cashed in on the likes of Carrol, Enrique, and Gutierrez.
