RE: Team for Blackpool.

part of me is hoping that it will be the same team that played against Wolves, with the new lads on the bench

it's the perfect match where we can afford to give them a 30 min run out (hopefully we'll be a few goals up by then) which would give them a chance to get used to the league slowly before everyone labels them a flop

I agree OM, I doubt if the new lads would start, and hardly great for team harmony dropping Smith, Guti and certainly not Routledge.

RE: Team for Blackpool.

M8 i think he will play them from the start esp Tiote. Over Smith..

I would even put Nolan on the bench and play Arfa in a free attacking role behind either carroll or Lovenkrants...

RE: Team for Blackpool.

Exactly Figs, the new lads have to EARN the right to get the place of a player that has gotten us to 8th in the league

Think it might dent the team spirit if these lads who have joined just walked into the team, as the current 11 haven't really done anything to justify being dropped... so far

He will play the same 11 as the first few games, Ben Arfa and Tiote will come off the bench.

RE: Team for Blackpool.

He just named Nolan captain an Smith vice captain.

We just humped Villa and got a good point away at Wolves.

Neither Tiote or Ben Arfa have even been in the country for a fortnight.

No way will they start over Nolan and Smith

whatever happens it's nice to be in a situation where we can't decide whether or not to play our two new internationals from the start or not!

RE: Team for Blackpool.

But we all said we need Creativity in the team and pace and to put Arfa on the bench is stupid this is one bloke who is better and fitter than nolan and can pass and shoot and go past people in a free role something nolan carnt do apart from staying in the box and score goals..

And you all know smith he more likely to get sent off than get MOM in a given game...

RE: Team for Blackpool.

I agree with you mate, I dare say that will happen over the next month or 2, but it wont happen against Blackpool.

The lads that have started the season have given no reason at all to be dropped, its up to the new lads + Guthrie to force Hughtons hand. Thats how it should be.

-----------Harper----------

Perch Colo Williamson Enrique

----Barton------Tiote-------

Routledge---Ben Arfa----Guti

----------Carroll------------
Why won't Nolan be dropped, he dropped Butt and Smith last year and they were the captains.

That's the team I'd like to see, although if he does stick with the same side, I'd still be happy.

Ben Arfa will come off the bench and his pace against their tired legs should be fun to watch.

In the long term thats the team I would imagine will play.

However, it would be criminal to drop Nolan in particular. Team captain that has scored a couple already as part of the team that has had a very decent start to the season?? No chance.

True.

I can't see Ben Arfa starting on the bench though, Tiote maybe, but not Ben Arfa.

He's the "star" signing and I think Hughton will want him to start.

Maybe in place of Routledge.

Aye but when he doesnt score, he doesnt really influence the game for me. I understand his value in terms of drive and determination on the pitch, but he is painfully flat footed and doesnt have the pace to get up and down the pitch.

I dont recall him getting many assists at all last season?? Could be wrong like but no killer passes spring to mind, thats pretty important if he is going to play in front of the central midfielders.

Guthrie got 12, Jonas got 10, Carroll got 8 and Routledge got 7 (that's in desc order too)

RE: Team for Blackpool.

Not a bad haul then.

Time will tell as with everything, but I dont think he will hold his place in the side all season.

His place is his to lose and the new lads to win at the moment though.

RE: Team for Blackpool.

I think Richy has probably got our best formation there, but I would also like to see us start with the same team that started against wolves, and introduce Arfa and Tiote from the bench.

The last thing we need is for either player to get the impression he's superior to the existing club players, cos - even if true - that would rock our rather fragile team dynamic.

Still, with Arfa here on such a short term deal, and costing us so much money in loan fees and wages, I can see fat Ash insisting he plays every second he can to try and eke out his money's worth, and team spirit be buggered.

i'm new on here.

personally i can't see him dropping nolan for the simple fact he score goals and has done so this season. if this changes fair enough i think hughton will simply wait and see who slips up in the coming weeks as to who ben arfa replaces..............he might not use ben arfa much away from home anyhow.

Welcome to the forum, mate.

Personally, I would assume it's away from home that we'd be relying on Arfa to unlock the opposition and spring the counter attacks.

Could be wrong, like.

Don't be fact he won't want to play Ben Arfa, remember if he plays 25 games old Mikey boy will have to splash some cash to the tune of 6m

RE: Team for Blackpool.

i gather he may be a bit of a luxury player and won't do match back tracking. It's hard to second guess what Hughton might do as he can play on the wing off the frontman or in midfield so there may be a few of the old crew's arses twitching like bunnies noses to keep their place.......................can't be a bad thing.
