Next season

If I'm right in thinking that we are looking for a bit more creativity up front......I can't see how either Nolan or Barton aren't going to suffer. Pardew has already said we need a bit more energy in a few positions

The way I see it is we need an out and out right sided midfielder who can get the defence on their heels and obviously Barton isn't that man......if you make a place for Barton I can only see it being in Nolans more advanced roll

any thoughts?

RE: Next season

If Tiote is still here, and I hope he is, HBA comes in to the team, I'd like to see Jonas tried on the right side, then hoy a decent centre forward in to the team, I think nolan could lose out to barton....this is dependant on them all still being here though.

RE: Next season

hahahaha.

We definitely need a quick right winger capable of beating a man and getting a decent cross in (is that so hard to find????).

At least one good centre forward.

A few younger squad fillers that might turn out to be good.

As for Nolan & Barton - I agree, one of which wont be a constant starter, I think it may be Nolan that makes way. If HBA is to play off a front man, then I think Barton alongside Tiote makes more sense than Nolan.

I don't think Barton has got the eye for goal or the poachers instinct that Nolan has.....I can't see barton ever getting into double figures a season like

RE: Next season

Simply because bartons had a great season.
The RW will have his chance when injuries/suspensions mean Barton moves inside.
We have a great midfield.

Barton Nolan Tiote Ben Arfa Gutierrez Gosling (Ireland)

A few QUALITY additions. And we'll have a decent season.

He definitely doesnt have an eye for goal, certainly wont consistently score for us.

His all round game is far better than Nolans though, which I think is important if the position up for grabs is alongside Tiote as opposed to futher up the pitch. Can the likes Of Ben Arfa and whoever we get up top cover for Nolans goals?? Fuck knows.

Ideally we keep both of course, as they are both very influential within the club.
Barton is not a right winger and shouldnt play there unless we are struggling to fill the role.

If we still need him to play there next season then we can call the summer a big fat fail.

Viana you are nuts.

What would be a decent season? 2nd? It would be our second season back in the PL after all.

RE: Next season

Yeah would love to see someone like Richards from Man city even though Simpson is steady away and another CB if Campbell leaves. Maybe try keep him on as a defensive coach, i reckon he'd bring some good knowledge to the young'uns.

I was reading somewheres that Everton might have to sell a few of there good players in the summer because of financial stuff, maybe try get Arteta as our creative player or Krancjar (dunno if thats spelt right) a Pacey winger for cover incase Arfa or Jonas get injured and a striker.
Seems like a resonable shopping list to give to Ashley.

RE: Next season

2 forwards
2 wingers
and a decent creative midfielder.

The defence isnt to bad and some of the goals we have conceded this season were down to stupid errors, these need to be ceased.

Like the Irishman says - pace and creativity is the way forward, it is no secret that teams struggle against these.

Every decent side I can think of.
Both nufc sides and other PL sides who are very good have this in abundance.
Remember Bellamy Robert Dyer Jenas and co.
Energy stretches teams when they are tired.
Counter attacking football is more affective now than it's ever been in the PL.

please never ever include Jenas in a list of "good" players,..the other three, fair enough, but Jenas never did a thing for the toon (except the 25 yard shot against, err, manure i think),..jenas let SBR down everytime he played

RE: Next season

Jenas (not that I'm defending him) hit a few crackers.
One with his left peg against westham I remember. Great goal.
He was class his first 2 seasons.
Honest to god i remember the interview he did with a diamond earing.
And I can remember thinking this is k dyer mark II.
And that he was taking his eye off being a footballer. Proved right.
Had great energy and pace those first seasons.
Wasn't he PFA young player of the year after bellers?
