Fave NUFC moment

of your lifetime, something you witnessed.

For me it was one of two, the civic centre when they brought the championship trophy home, kk's speach...."i had some great times at liverpool, and i really didnt think there fans could be bettered but this is something else"

Something along those lines

We went nuts!!

Also Tinos 2nd header to make it 3 v Barcelona. Holy shit i ended up four or five rows down from me in the gallowgate.
Unbelievable feeling.

RE: Fave NUFC moment

best moment's for game's i've been at.

Nobby scoring winner at Leeds last minute to win 4-3 when 3-1 down with about 17 minutes left to keep us top of the league.

Griffin v Juve.

NUFC 4-3 MUFC.

and the two 2-0 wins i've seen us beat the mackems at SJP, Shearer and Bellamy, and the Owen 2 game. Wish i was at the 5-1!

Watching on TV the feyenoord game and obviously, NUFC 5-1 mackems.

Stood in the Fulwell end when Liam O'Brien popped it over their wall at the Roker End, then seeing small pockets of skirmishes in the Fulwell end as toon fans couldn't contain their delight.

same as Liam......O'Briens goal at the mackems

Shearers goal in the semi at Old Trafford........the stand was actually swaying from side to side

My favourite moment of all time although not directly a NUFC moment was being at the Sunderland v Gillingham game in '87 when they got beat 4-3 in the playoffs.........there were about 500 newcastle fans in next to the Gillingham fans........fuckin champion.....at the end of the game the Gillingham fans were joining in with the Blaydon races

When we scored the 5th goal in beating Leicester 5-4 in 90 having been 4-2 down, taking it all in as ballboy on the left of the dugout.

Wish they'd let us keep the co-op trackie.

RE: Fave NUFC moment

I wish I really wish, I really really wish you young sods could watch the game a certain J Smtih played in 1974 and my memory is deserting me but I think, I think, I think against Burnley or Villa (help me someone) in possibly the 6th round of the FA Cup. I have minescules of it on video if someone knew how to put it on Youtube, but digressing, Jinky played the game of his life in the changed strip of the Brazillian colours, his jinks, dribbles and passes were a sight to behold and the fans of Keegans nineties teams can't compare.

I know its a big statement, but I wish the younger members of our board could have seen Jinky.

Admittedly he only turned it on when he wanted to, but I would have a shrine to him, Eusebio eat your heart out.

It wasn't just that it happened......It's that I was there to see it happen

watching grown men try to claw there way through metal railings to get at you, while you are literally doubled over laughing tends to stick in the owld memory

RE: Fave NUFC moment

Tinos hatrick was up there, and Vic i do remember Jinky vaguelly from my youth

My father brought me up on stories about Milburn, taunting wingers. if he beat them easily he would wait from them to compose themselves again and do it all over again. stories of him taking a sandwich from the crowd whilst the ball was down the other end. that was his era and nothing afterward compared to his feel good moments

One memory i will never forget

Stood in the corner watching Andy Cole and another black player square up to each other and 2 lads next to me concurred they were obviously from different tribes

not in that language

Shearer's record breaking goal was a special moment.

The ground was bouncing for about 20 minutes. Even the Pompey fans stood and applauded despite being two goals down. Fair play.

Although i wasn't there, the comeback away to Feyenoord in the Champions League always sticks out in mind! Watched it at home with my mates, amazing when Bellamy scored the equaliser to make it 3 wins after 3 losses in the group stages!

In the clockstand paddock watching super tony cascarino score a hat trick in the play offs, 87 or in the mainstand seats watching 300 NME getting escorted out of the Fulwell, 85......chasing them back into the Windmill 1990 ..and kicking fuck out of them before their Man U FA Cup game 87.....and most happiest moment not involving the mackems...that David Kelly goal against Pompey..sheer pandamonium..!!!!!

RE: Fave NUFC moment

Obviously many great memories, but the one that sticks is Keegan's debut against QPR.

The whole build up was surreal. His signing was truly out of this world. We were a shite second division club and the memories of Supermac and Wembley felt like another time.

He was opening a new club shop in the ground before the season started so I went along and got his autograph along with Varadi's. I also got Joe Harvey's and Jackie Milburns all on the same NUFC cap. Been told it could be worth a few bob now but no way I'll part with it.

My Dad, who had warned me that "Newcastle will break your heart more than any lass, son" went back on his apathy to the club after years of let-downs (including a 4-0 loss to Charlton in the FA Cup semis he went to in about 1948 - reckons our lot had a fight amongst themselves in the tunnel before the game about money) and bought me and him season tickets in the Paddock! Unreal!

The game itself was a bit of an anti-climax for a while - but being in a full house of 36,000 after years of shite and occasional 7,000 crowds was exciting in its own right.

When he scored it felt like the world had exploded. Never forget that moment till the day I die. Thanks Dad!

Loads of good memories from David Kelly vs pompey onwards, but 4-1at the stadium of shite takes some beating.

Also 3-2 away to Derby under Robson, 2-0 with 15 mins to go. Class away day.

RE: Fave NUFC moment

Feyenoord away was a awesome night.

But there are so, so many good times I've experienced swell as many many shit ones.

Almost everything experienced under KK was like a dream, except the obvious.

SBR we had some cracking days and nights.

Every other manager in my lifetime has been pretty shit, with the odd momentary high, even Dalglish gave us the Barcelona game.

Having only witnessed 1 away defeat to the SMB's trips to Pikeyland have almost always been enjoyable.

Sitting in the main stand at Anfield in our first season back under KK when we played them off the park was fun.

Magical moments of brilliance from players like Shearer, Robert, Solano, Lee, Tino, Beardo, Ferdy, etc, etc good good times.

I just hope there are some more good times to come soon, but reckon we may have a long wait.
