Ba and Best

Seems our much-maligned striking duo are shoving criticism down some people's throats.

Their strike record in the Prem league was impressive in the summer and their contribution this season has continued. I recall saying if Ba stays fit he will safely outscore Carroll by Xmas. Isn't that right Brasso? Wink
And mores to the point - Pardew should give Ba the number 9 shirt now. 8 goals in 9 games. Speaks for its fucking self.

RE: Ba and Best

Best is looking good, he wins plenty in the air, has a bit of pace and good control. He'll also run all day. His shooting at times is shit though.

Ba is just class.

RE: Ba and Best

Best could learn a thing or two from Ba's movement in the box to get on the end of chances.

Apart from that though Besty is working hard for the team and generally playing well, just the goals have dried up in the last few games.

Best is currently Ireland's best striker.

Just wait and see them not qualify and then if that dopey old spastic in charge is still a "great manager".

He's absolutely pish

RE: Ba and Best

Ireland's best striker?
Quite simply - fuck off.
How many goals has Ireland's best striker scored for his country Steve?
Dopey old spastic as you call him is one of the most successful managers ever.
Doyle Keane Long Walters Cox all better strikers.
And oh I'm a ST holder for Ireland. So my opinion far outweighs yours.

Big Grin

Fuck off man. Doyle is so good no one better than Wolves have picked him up, Robbie Keane has been past is for about 5 years, Shane Long is alright, Walters is absolute horseshit - literally the worst striker I have ever seen. Pure fat bassad and that's it. Cox is no better thanh any of them.

On current form, Best is your number 1 striker. He's only got about 9 caps for you hasn't he? Get him there, and he will score.

I don't think you'll qualify with that ignorant twat in charge. He hasn't got a clue. He's as bad as Capello - not picking players on form.

Must admit V on current form, Long is the only player that is perhaps better than Best

There is no way Walters or Cox are better. He's about level with Doyle and Keane is still a little better but he's on the decline.

You ask how many goals Best has scored for us? How many games has he started for us since he joined Newcastle? If a player is on the bench or not even in the squad how can they score?

Don't even think of saying your opinion outweighs mine.

RE: Ba and Best

Is this the Walters who plays for Stoke ? If so HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, He looks like he just got off a Sunshine bus.
The Italian geezer reckons having Long on the bench with his hurty leg or whatever it is, is more effective than picking a fit Striker....fucking genius that like, what next black fucking magic.

RE: Ba and Best

We'll see if/when we qualify.
Trapatonni has won league championships and trophies all over the world.
What has Leon Best won? How many goals has he scored for Ireland when given the chance?
I've been a season ticket holder since I were a nipper and as Steve has said on numerous occasions, that he knows more about Newcastle than me as he's an apparent ST holder, so I'm applying his expert concept.

Leon Best isn't good enough. The fact he prefers Long and Cox speaks volumes.

RE: Ba and Best

The fact he prefers Cox speaks volumes alright.

He can be a complete idiot at times, he takes a dislike to someone and they'll never be selected again regardless of their ability.

If Trapp qualifies with what is the poorest Ireland team in years then fair play to him and I'll be over the moon. Doesn't change the fact that he's picking inferior players ahead of Best for personal reasons.

RE: Ba and Best

The Best thing is simple. He isn't disciplined enough.
And I can see if even in the stoke games. Cabaye tried to pick a pass to him at times and he never moved.
For our Irish team we need 10 outfield players all pulling the same direction. Fighting for everything. Something Besty doesn't do. He isn't disciplined enough. And Trap knows better than anyone.
Also dicking around Dublin everytime we have an international match boozing etc. Hardly endears him to the trap.

RE: Ba and Best

Best is a hard working player who runs all day for Newcastle. He has pace, skill and bags more goals than the likes of Cox and Walters. Stoke wasn't his best game but he's been great this season.

There's no point in having 10 outfield players all pulling in the same direction if some of them are shit. Some of the players pulling on the Ireland jersey these days have no place in international football. Every time I look at our lineup and bench I have to shake my head and wonder what he's thinking.

Thing is, for me anyway who watches every game live, but the downside of that is you only get to see where the camera is, so I accept the views of the lads who go to the matches and see what the players do 'off the ball'.

RE: Ba and Best

Exactly IM.

Trappatoni has a massive grudge against Best for reasons he can't explain properly. (Colour maybe?)

It's weird how everyone at NUFC speaks highly of Best's attitude and workrate, and someone who has met him twice feels fit to call his attitude bad.

Current form, Best is your best striker.

Who says he's gonna be on the bench.
He's got a chance to show his fitness
There's little secret as to why Hodgson said he would be out for 6 weeks....

You try work it out.

3 goals this season isn't it. Plus about 5 assists

Involved in 3 quarters of our league goals so far.

Best isnt scoring many goals simply because Ba is.

How many has Rooney scored in his last 5 games? None I think is the answer....

RE: Ba and Best

Not at all mate.

I thought Best had a very decent game against Stoke. He has been leading the line well and making his markers life difficult in almost every game so far this season. Demba Ba is an out and out goalscorer, he knows where he needs to be in the penalty area and certainly at the moment he is popping up in the right place at the right time in every game. Besty therefore has the job of provider and workhorse, its not a coincidence that when we do go long its toward Best to go and challenge for a knock down or a flick on, and how many times have we seen him win possession and either carry it wide and look foir a pass or carry it deep and look for a pass?? All the while Demba Ba is looking to second guess the passage of play and get into the killer position.

Best not being called up for the Irish is a fucking joke, although I'm happy enough for him to get rests on International weeks.
Super Pards himself actually said that Best is the Best (oh dear) 'natural finisher at the club, in terms of left foot, right foot and heed'.

We all know Pardew's word is now gospel too Wink
