RE: Romain Amalfitano

Well that's one through the door. There's a gulf in class between Premiership football and what he's been used to. He's 22 so he has plenty of time to improe and make the step up.

I've never seen him play so can't comment on his abilities, Guthrie is most likely off though so we need more midfielders in. The scouting team don't get too much wrong these days so he can't be that bad.

If he's anything like his brother Morgan Amalfitano .. we've got ourselves a very good player.

Not officially. but he was seen yesterday at Newcastle airport. plus he's made a comment on it being a dream move and stuff, so i guess that's pretty official.

Quote:I maintain that it has a very good level and have to admit that his desire was poor for many months

Quote:Good riddance. I hope it's just a big joke those who say he was pro all the way ... What did he do from September to April? A season does not amount to two months

Quote:When it's good it has to be said (good match Romain yesterday I found!), but it does not take away the months of mediocrity leading up to it.

Quote:I will not regret your departure, Roman, you have unfortunately been too intermittent

Quote: he will struggle to hold a starting place in Newcastle. Bet he will be loaned to a French club, Reims or elsewhere ....

Basically the general feelings amongst their fans...as always I have complete faith in Carr and Pardew, but does seem like the general feeling is that he goes missing and likes a sulk

Totally agree OM, anyone who Pardew and Carr bring in is fine with me.

I'm sure there were very similar things mentioned about HBA and look how he has turned out!

RE: Romain Amalfitano

It's all official now.

Newcastle United have bolstered their French contingent after announcing the signing of Romain Amalfitano from Reims.

The 22-year-old midfielder is the younger brother of Marseille's Morgan Amalfitano and is regarded as an exciting prospect for the future.

He will officially join the Magpies on 1st July with his contract with Reims ending on 30th June, having helped the club earn promotion to Ligue 1 this season.

Amalfitano will now be hoping to emulate compatriots such as Yohan Cabaye and Hatem Ben Arfa by making an impact on Tyneside.
Opportunity

He told the club's official website: "I am very happy to be a Newcastle player. I have seen a bit of the city already and it is a change from France but one I am really looking forward to.

"When a club like Newcastle wants you to play for them it can only be a good thing. I have taken the opportunity to play in the Premier League and cannot wait to get going."

Alan Pardew has also plundered the French market for the likes of Sylvain Marveaux and youngster Mehdi Abeid, and has been linked with further moves for Lille full-back Mathieu Debuchy and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa of Montpellier this summer.

Newcastle reaped the benefits of their transfer policy as they finished fifth in the Premier League, with a new-look team that also featured the likes of Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba impressing throughout the campaign.
