RE: The Strip for the Derby

Nowt to do with Pardew

We are not able to wear the home strip on Sunday because both teams would be wearing black shorts and socks which is not permitted by the PL

We've always worn the "away" shorts at SOL when there was a clash, problem is our away kit is black shorts so couldn't get round it by wearing those

I didn't think the manager would ever pick which strip we wore anyway.

dear me, you'd think with the money floating around they'd be able to make some white shorts and socks!

Not that i'm too bothered, as long as we win i couldn't care what kit we wear.

RE: The Strip for the Derby

Can't do that TA, kits are registered with the premier league and you're only permitted to wear the kits the club has registered

I'm the same, more bothered about the actual game than what strip we're wearing when we beat them Wink

RE: The Strip for the Derby

the shorts from the orange away strip last season we're the same as the ones we wore against the mackems away last season (i think), apart from the orange kit's shorts had an orange puma sign on them, the ones against the mackems didn't.... call me sad but i just googled it to find out Big Grin. Therefore they were different shorts Big Grin

the shorts for the mackems away last season didn't have the puma sign on them under the number, which would have been orange. That's the difference. Same shorts but without the puma sign.

i am a perfectionist Big Grin

RE: The Strip for the Derby

Yeah I know, but if you look we had black socks and they had red socks

the PL rule is both clubs can not wear the same colour shorts and socks for some strange reason, don't fully understand that rule personally

Just noticed this

Quote:Newcastle United FC ‏@NUFCOfficial
Just to clarify, NUFC not able to wear black + white on Sunday because both teams wear black shorts + socks. Would not be permitted by PL

RE: The Strip for the Derby

we havn't lost in the lime strip yet, let's hope it continues.

actually, i've just looked at a pic from the away derby last season, Colo had a gold puma sign under his number on shorts, Cabaye didn't, the plot thickens!

RE: The Strip for the Derby

Aye KS you're right, get confused with the away and 3rd kits lol

Though not sure white striped with red shorts would go down too well like, can't think of another reason why we're not bothering with the away shorts like always when this happens

you can wear the same colour shorts as long as the socks are different, so will be the black shorts/lime socks like usual for that kit

as long as both shorts and socks aren't the same, i think shorts can be the same but not socks.... especially with all this tape being the same colour as the socks business, some refs even inist on it at Sunday league level!

Correct, they'll have the same problem when we play them at SJP, clubs need to look at the others kit so this can be avoided in the future

i've seen teams wear the sams shorts but not socks, i think just the shirt and socks need to be different, shorts can be the same, or something.

looked it up properly in the PL rulebook, basically:

The PL ruling is....if teams wear a SIMILAR top then the shorts and socks cannot be similar

that's why us in home top, white shorts and black socks would be fine as they would wear home top, black shorts and black socks (should be red IMO)

however from a distance home top, black shorts and socks from a distance would look like their shorts and socks during any tackles, so to avoid any problems for making decisions when it comes to 50/50 challenges or if contact in the box etc...there must be a way to tell players apart

that couldn't be worn anyway, as it will clash with their shirts.

Not the most conventional choice of colours for my wedding suit, but not many could have carried it off Cool
