The Dipper Game

If we can contain them for the first thirty mins or so, we might have a decent chance. The dippers get nervous the longer games go on. I've seen it a few times this season, where they put themselves under pressure often when there's no need and when they've gone in front.

Southampton had them well beaten by letting them fuck about passing sideways in their own half, shutting them down early, and letting them creep deeper and deeper as the game went on. So for once I hope Pardew opens cautiously and gradually gets us to attack.

If they score early on though, I'll fear the worst.

Tomorrows centre back pairing... Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and Mike Williamson,

The thing with Mbiwa, Williamson and Taylor is you have to weigh up which of them is least likely to make at least 3 bad mistakes. These days I think our friend Williamson is the best choice, even if he doesn't know how to pass the ball less than 15 yards and on the ground.

It'll be similar to the Man City game, they'll score early on unfortunately.

The Dipper Game

In that case we'll fall to pieces.

Something I've noticed this season, and that's we have a couple of players who bottle it when things start going wrong early on. Debuchy is the worst for it, there are others whose shoulders drop and go into aimless mode (Tiote, Taylor), but Debuchy just throws in the towel, and Mbiwa is another. His head looks shot to shit at the minute.

Yeah, and that's where we're missing a real leader that can pick people up when things are going badly.
