Krul Best In The League?

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew was full of praise for keeper Tim Krul after his stunning display helped earn Newcastle a win against Tottenham Hotspurs, claiming “he is one of the best in the league”.

The Netherlands international made 14 saves in the match on Sunday, and helped Newcastle to claiming their second big scalp in eight days, after defeating Chelsea last weekend.

“He has done a few good ones for us, Tim. I think he is the best Dutch goalkeeper for sure, and i think he is one of the best in the league.” said Pardew, in a post match interview.

Newcastle took an early lead as Loic Remy rounded Brad Friedel in the 13th minute before slotting home into an empty net. After this, Krul gave a performance which he described as “the highlight of his career”.

The Dutchman tipped over efforts from Roberto Soldado and Paulinho, before he blocked efforts from Eriksen and Sigurdsson with his feet.

Krul, now 25, was brought to St James’ Park 7 years ago now, and appears to be on the form of his life. He missed some of last season with shoulder and ankle injuries, but he remained just as resilient off the pitch as he is on it and fought back to regain his starting position.

Speaking after the game to the BBC, Krul said “The first save was the best – Soldado’s header. The sun was low and it kick-started from there. Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa put his life on the line to clear one [from Younes Kaboul] – it shows the commitment, from the back five to the strikers.

“This is the highlight of my career. It was nice to celebrate with the back four. These kind of games don’t happen very often. It was a great result.”

Krul Best In The League?

He is in the top batch of keepers in the league. If he could sort out his distribution then it would take him up a level or two.

I really like Elliott's quick throw out that he does, its almost like Schmeichel used to do when he was in his pomp. Our coaching staff should be working on that sort of thing with Krul, its a great weapon to have, especially when we have quick players that can start making a run as soon as the keeper in in possession.

Completely agree Sal, one of the things I liked about Reina

Great tool to have to catch the opposition and keeps them thinking about bombing on too much in case they get caught out by it

One good game (and an excellent one at that) and he's World class, best in the Prem blah blah blah. It wasn't that long ago he was getting slated, not the same guy after his injury, frightened to dive/put his body on the line, he's worried about his shoulder injury blah blah blah.

Make your minds up.

Pardew is the one calling him world class, blah blah blah

A cracking shot stopper, like most of the current generation of keepers, but get's a nose bleed outside the 6 yard box with crosses.
