the person in the costume is obviously entitled to show their respects but i reckon the removal of the head piece would come across a lot better

Mascots by their very nature turn every situation in which they're present into a novelty one so no - it's not just you, they really shouldn't be there! It's like a load of clowns at a funeral or something

Is it just me or is it all a little strange

Football generally rules the field when it comes to crass, but this sets a new standard. They look like they're taking the piss. How long would it take to jump out of Squirrel uniform and not look like a homage to Staurt Hall from his 'It's a knockout' days???
They may also want to have a word with their agents or careers advisors, because something's going wrong with their lives in general.
