Football in general as well though, money and greed.I hope it all crashes and burns, and they have to start it all from scratch.

Yep. Only being slightly happy when we win and completely oblivious when we lose is a weird feeling and is difficult to get used to.

I find it possible to be genuinly optimistic though, that at some point in the future things will be better again, the spark wil be reignited and hopefully we can all reminisce about these shitty times

RE: Do any of you

When the genuine passion leaves, so will I. When I want them to lose, then i'll walk away. When I stop hurting when we lose, I'll walk away, when I stop getting a buzz when we win(even expected victories) I'll walk away, When I can go an entire game I'm not watching and not check on the score, I'll walk away. None of those apply, I guess if I couldn't walk away when the club was being abused by virtually every board member since my baptism, then now is probably too late to give it up because we're dull.
I cannot imagine doing anything else. I may be beyond anger with this lot, but it doesn't mean he's driving me away from 50% of my life.

Honest question, not to start a war again, what was the biggest thing that made you stay away.

Sadly I'm in the Mc/TA boat too.

Summed it up for me on deadline day, I usually sit up waiting and hoping for a new signing but the deadline day just gone I paid no attention, I wasn't arsed who left and I knew we wouldn't sign anyone.

I expect you know my answer Mac, the passion is still there. I still watch and still want us to win every single game/week.

I can't apologise for it because it's what I do.

To be honest a culmination of everything since keegan gate. To long to list and its been said a million times.
but i suppose the lack of ambition is the overriding factor along with library like atmosphere at home games and the contempt to which we are treat by the club. My son wanted us to apply for season tickets this coming close season and i gave it serious thought. The day ashley leaves will be the day i return.
do i get comfort in my one man crusade against the bastard? No of course not.it hurts. I am 52 yr old now so been going to games 48 yrs.this is worse than any era in my humble opinion.
Some may say...wots to moan about?
Plenty i say.

i am mildly interested. this is a long way from where it has been but I feel that I have been beaten with the Ashley stick too often.
To be honest I am not sure that I will be able to ramp up my interest to previous levels if & when Ashley sells up. I might be permanently lost toNUFC.

I don't think it's mutually exclusive to just us, (ignoring what Ashley has done) outside the top 4-6 and bottom 3-4 clubs there is starting to become a feeling of just making the numbers up on a larger scale to what there has been in the past.

Spoke to a few lads I know about this who support other teams in the league and they're the same, happy when they win but not arsed if they lose as they know in the end they'll end up where they always do season after season.

One lad likened it to F1, if you don't have the financial backing of the likes of Ferrari, Mercedes, Red Bull and McLaren you're just an also ran scraping for the left overs trying to make it through another season without any major disasters.

Personally I'm going to be into the 6 Nations and Rugby World Cup this year far more than I am the toon, the way Ashley has set us up coupled with the lack of trying anything new by FIFA, UEFA, FA and Premier League is completely turning me away from the game at the moment.

That's not including the likes of Sky and BT who are just going absolutely mental with their bidding for coverage.

My wife ( god rest her soul) used to say i was stuck in a time warp and old fashioned. I used to agree.
Bring back the old days when fans knew how to protest and voice there opinions outside the ground and in it.

For me it was as bad as it got when Dinnis was 'manager' and Geoff Nulty was essentially running things. Any half decent players either left or where sold off, whilst the board just sat there with stupid grins and skimmed off the turnstile takings. He somehow dragged us up to 5th despite the unrest between the players and board (Sounding familiar?), but the following season the inevitable happened and we went on the skids. In all that time, there was no 1 person in charge and the club where a shambles (souding familiar?) leading to another fall.
I remember stood on the Poplar side for a game that season, and 4 lads where sat playing cards such was the fare on offer.
It has just been 1 long Leonard Cohen LP, apart from a couple of rogue happy tracks, with this lot.

Do any of you

I know a few Everton and Arsenal fans who feel exactly the same way, but for different reasons, so it isn't just newcastle fans going through it. Though our situation is quite unique.

It's been a truly shit premier league this season. I can't remember a match that's had me glued to the outcome so far this season. Most of the football has been shit, dull, plodding, almost routine. most of the decent games I've seen have been in the lower leagues or in Italy. Even the Spanish and German games have been meh. I wonder if it's just a dissatisfaction of modern day football, huge ticket prices, no entertainment, little atmosphere and most outcomes a foregone conclusion.

With us, I go through phases. I still get excited when we win, I still get pissed off when we lose, but year on year Ashley gets more and more flagrant and I wonder when his thirst for commercialising our club until it's an actual franchise a la the Super Bowl will surpass my wanting anything at all to do with it.

For now I still retain my love for the place, and I still get stupidly excited about being able to actually go to St James', and that's keeping me going for now. That and I'm a stubborn bastard who won't easily allow Ashley to force me to give up something that's been a big part of my life for a very long time now.

I did the old "sack the board" routine back in the 80s, and that's what it was, routine, because for several years it may as well have been our theme tune. As for boycotting, no, never.

I'm fairly apathetic overall. I learnt at a young age it was pointless getting too angry at something I had little control over. I still enjoy seeing us win though.

RE: Do any of you

It's weird, I find myself gutted with the whole farce that is NUFC, yet still on match day I get that still, childlike excitement and stepping inside the ground the tingle before kick off, yet it all fades by the end until the next game when it starts again.

It's one big long anti-cock teasing bitch of a non climax.

Tease, tease, tease and ultimately let down.

Fucking nightmare at the minute, because every extra long 9 month season period of time is another lost forever, with little or no excitement and nothing to look forward.

I liken it to what I imagine it must be like to be in a loveless marriage, just staying together for the kids.

Love KK, so many good times and happy memories, despite no major trophy.

It was the best period in my lifetime supporting NUFC.

You used to stride to the match proud as fuck that NUFC was your team and every other fucker wished it was theirs.

The whole country loved watching us, except the bitter Mackems, Smogs and no doubt Man U fans.

If we never won a trophy I couldn't give a fuck, as long as we played like that and showed ambition like then.

Aim to be the best, buy the best you can and fucking go for it.

That's what football should be about.

RE: Do any of you

I think football is fucked. It has been for a while. The proper fans are being priced out of the game. It's a huge money making exercise now. People who had no interest in the game suddenly have a team and a second one and even more moronically a third. They learn the punditry bollocks and absorb what they read in the newspapers so they don't even have to form an opinion. It's all done for them.

The whole game has become dull, uninspiring and almost seems scripted so Sky can have a few end of season specials. Fuck that behemoth and maybe the game can get back to what it was instead of this media circus. It's like they've taken the blueprint for that bloody awful Yank wrestling thing and applied it to football. Transfer deadline day my arse!

I agree with Lip's assessment. The game is fucked. And it's going to get worse with the TV rights up for grabs, with bids northwards of the current 5.5 billion deal. I can see the mooted topic of playing a premiership fixture overseas eventually coming to fruition. Sky dictate when games are played and I fully expect a premiership fixture every day of the week in the coming years. Beleive me, it will happen! Cheerleaders and even more cannons firing fucking tinsel and tickertape. They want to turn every game into the Superbowl.

Sky are directly responsable for our plight. By that I mean giving teams millions for being part of the premier leauge. Millions of ££££'s for being average. And thats what we are ..... average. Because in the eyes of the owner thats all we need to be. This is the crux of the problem. Can you really blame MA for spending as little as he possibly get away with over the course of a season? Why jeopardize your players in a competition like the FA cup? A competition that has diminshing kudos ( the BBC will tell you different, but it's true) and little in the way of financial incentive? From a buisness perspective you'd be crackers! Put it this way, if you were in a position to buy sunderland and run it in exactly the same way as MA would you do it? I would. I would do it because I don't give a fuck about Sunderland, just like MA doesn,t give a fuck about us ,and I would spend the whole of the close season on Necker Island counting £50 notes courtesy of Sky.

So here we are. In my view there has never been a worse time to be a supporter of NUFC. I doubt I will be pitching up to SJP anytime soon because of what I've outlined above. We're in pugatory. I still watch the games, but with diminshing enthusiasm. I feel disconnected and ergo apathy .... It doesn't feel like the Newcastle United I supported as a boy. I never missed MOTD if we won. Now I can barely be arsed!

As for the owner and the immediate future? It's not bright I'm afraid. From Mike Ashleys perspective NUFC are the Goose that lays the golden eggs. Millions of them. So why would he walk away? Seriously why would he? I suspect we all know the answer to that!

I jacked it all in, in the hope that I would be back one day when things had changed.....I now can't see the day that I would be back at all under any circumstances. Sky and the fat cunt have killed it stone dead for me
