Sunderland manager Simon Grayson:

"People know it has been a very difficult place to play over the last few seasons but what we have got to do is stick together and scrape a win on Tuesday night. Then the confidence levels can come back."

Scrape a win ? They're at home to fucking forest !!

I would LOVE IT if they went down again.

Drew the last one like. Mitro.

Would be pretty confident if we were playing them tomorrow.

We can but hope

Do you reckon Northumbria police will set a few blocks aside at SOS for Toon fans when they play Wolves in May, just to wave them down to the third tier again?

I can't help thinking our 'rivalry' with the mackems is on a par with Craggy Island vs Rugged Island.

We're hardly icons of sport in the North East at the moment. Both of our clubs are being fucked over by complete cunts.

Saying that, though, they are fucking shitter and their little town is a turdhole.

I don't think how either side is doing makes a difference to the rivalry..we hate Sunderland however they are doing and i'm sure their fans feel the same towards us.

I talk to to some people who want all north east teams to do well..i get that in a way...but fuck the mackems.

I really shouldn't considering our recent form, but I love derby day. Easily the best fixture on the calendar, for me. At least, the build up to it. The match itself can be a nightmare.

So in that sense, I'd like to see them come back up. Or at least stay where they are...and we might still get a derby next year.

It's a 'best of both worlds' scenario.

If we were in the same division, we'd have the emotion of a derby to look forward to (not always the result though). I don't think that anyone can deny that the week leading up to the derby is fraught with excitement. Easily the most intense week of the season.

While they are a different division, we can revel in their turmoil. Job's a goodun.

RE: Sunlun

Supporters of every colour always revel in a downturn of fortunes of their local rivals, live for the moment, enjoy the schadenfreude, the fact that it maybe us/you in the near future shouldn't be an option. It isn't particularly edifying in a wider social sense of course, but it's bloody satisfying nontheless, even if it only distracts you from your own lots shortcomings.
Sadly in this neck of the woods, bragging about being the best team is the old analogy of 2 bald blokes fighting over a comb.
The fact is that they're shitter than us, and that doesn't look like changing any time soon judging by the mass moan-in on RTG yesterday, small crumbs I know, but marginally better than none at all.

Aye, I just get a little saddened when I see my home region, where football is a true passion, have so little to offer to the top table of the footballing world. We're downtrodden wretches, all of us.

Mind we're not as bad off as the Arsenal fans. They're being abused on an unprecedented level apparently.

They shouldn't worry too much. Relegation could be good for them, they might actually win a few games...
