In short, no, the lad has thus far stepped up to the plate.

RE: Ciaran Clark

Nope, not me.

Thought he would be a decent Championship centre back, one of four regularly rotated. Didn't think he'd make the position his own.

Feel for Mbemba, I think he's got potential, but with Clark constantly impressing, Lascelles being club captain and Lejeune looking like he'll eventually be first choice, I don't think he'll get much of a chance. Played well at left back the other day though.

RE: Ciaran Clark

The way rafa rotates, I don't think he'll spend to much time on the bench.

RE: Ciaran Clark

He didn't change the back four too often last season, unless forced through injury/suspension.

I think Anita and Yedlin swapped about a bit, but Clark, Lascelles and Dummett were hardly ever rested. Even with Lascelles carrying an injury.

You must have had a canny TV in HMP. Smile

Well impressed with Clark. Deserves his spot.

I was underwhelmed at his signing..but i had faith that Rafa saw something in him.

Been a really solid signing..does not make many mistakes at all.

I always thought Clark was a decent player for Villa and was surprised he didn't stay in the PL when they got relegated.

Didn't their fans slate him for the number of free kicks and penalties he conceded? It says more about his colleagues if he was the only one trying to put last ditch tackles in.

A good defender in a tight defence shouldn't have to make dramatic tackles.

RE: Ciaran Clark

Never liked him at Villa and I was devastated when we signed him, great at scoring own goals for both club and country, the one he scored for Sweden was quality, Larsson whipped a cross in low and hard from the left and Clark really had to stretch every sinew to reach the ball at the near post and dived full length to bullet a header into the net, clinical finishing. But so far in his time here he has shown he is a very honest player, probably one of the most hard-working and passionate in the team, not many fuck-ups at the back and scored a few good headers.

Lascelles has had a tendency to do daft things now again, been caught ball-watching at times, just falling asleep at crucial moments, got away with it a lot last season, but if he loses concentration for a split second at this level he will be punished 9 times out of 10, Abrahams done him yesterday but tried to be too casual with the finish, what should help lascelles stay awake is knowing he now has Lejeune ready to nick his place, that might just be what he needed.

RE: Ciaran Clark

Lascelles was apparently carrying an injury in the latter part of the season as well, which probably affected him.

Don't come swanning back on here after another dirk-a-thon quoting facts and figures to counteract a wild assumption me laddo, there's specialist websites for that sort of nonsense. Rafa rotates a lot and that's that.

In fact, you'll have to go all the way back to March 2011 to find the last time Rafa rotated his entire back four in a league fixture.

I think I'm right in saying that the last time you said too much, was on April 18th at 3.04 pm on the 'stuff you've found in your trouser pocket after a night on the piss' thread.....
