RE: Sports Direct protest/ideas

I was listening to 5live and they were saying how West Ham supporters actually caused change through their boycotts, protests and pitch invasions etc.

Regress of the way they went about it. West Hamsupporters actually Brough about positive changes to their club.

Should we adopt their model?
Will we ever see change?

Well I'm trying to invite out to play, but unfortunately he prefers to hide away thru the day and start chatting shit on here after midnight when most of us are asleep. Rolleyes

I think for match goers, staying in the concourse for 10-15 mins before kick off, or after half time would be a decent idea for the Chelsea game, i think more people would take part in that than a walk out, it's the next best thing to an actual boycott imo.

Or enter the ground 15 mins late.

Whatever it is, the protests need to continue.

Indeed I did so thanks for that.

The whole Ashley Out campaign.

In principle sounds great and perfectly understandable, however to what cost?

What is the solution being put forward by the Magpie Group, etc?

So, we get him out, then what?

Then hopefully we have an owner who'll run us like a football club.

The grass isn't always greener, if that's what you're getting at, we could potentially end up with someone worse.

But that didn't stop people calling for Pardew to be sacked when we end up with Carver, then McLaren...

If the next owners are just as shit then we keep it up.

We as in NUFC fans/supporters.

Thought that was obvious.

I want Ashley Out, but not at all costs.

If Rafa goes it would be tragic, as I feel he is the best hope we have of sustainable success, since KK and SBR gave us regular European football and relative success.

However, if let’s say Ashley decides fuck you and sells us to the first group who approach him, who may not have the funds or know how to take us where we all want to be, what then?

This Staveley woman on the face of it, talked a good game, but when the crunch came she couldn’t close the deal.

All I really want is an owner who is honest, backs the manager and tries to achieve the very best we can, within our/their means and doesn't jeopardise the club with bankruptcy.

Ashley we all know is a businessman interested in his lot and that’s all.

He’ll do the bare minimum to protect his investment and that is all - we’ve seen that over more than a decade now - we can’t expect anymore from him, because he has proven and said he won’t give us any more.

What I fail to see is where the potential new owners are and any semblance of a plan from the protesting groups.

Their aim is, if I understand it correctly to force Ashley to sell, without specifying who to?

That’ll be everyone then.

There was very vociferous chanting in the ground towards the end of the game on Saturday against Ashley.

Never thought it was.

I’m not that precious.

Everyone has their own thoughts and ideas, but I think we all want the same end game.

However, I personally don’t want that at any cost.

I’d much rather we stuck with Ashley, if the alternative was a charlatan who fucks the club properly and leaves us heading down the leagues like Pompey did or Leeds have done.

Fuck me Leeds United have been out of the PL for how long now??

There will still be supporters who are happy with Mike Ashley as owner, nevermind people who aren't that haven't protested.

You're never gonna find that out until Ashley goes though, are you?

Whoever comes in - we can't do anything about that, so we can't worry about that.

If the next owner is just as bad, I'm not gonna be one of those looking back and thinking "we should have stuck with Ashley".

What would you like them to do? Put all potential owners through an interview process?

That's nowt to do with us unfortunately - all we can do is hope that the new owner can't be as bad as Ashley.

Doing a leeds with a new owner is a risk we are going to have to take, as it stands the club is going nowhere, and if premiership survival is the only ambition as we all know it is then what is the point? Just enjoying being in the same league with the big 6 mgiht be good enough for the bournemouths and palace, watford fans etc....If theres no ambition to be challenging to be up their amongst the big 6 then forget it, I would rather drop down the leagues if thats the case becasue I will certainly not be going back.

Exactly.

I don't see the alternative.

Just put up with Ashley 'cause the next bloke/lass might be worse? No thanks.

What is being discussed, is exactly what happened during the last change of owner.

We ended up with Ashley.

Mind, we'd be hard pushed to find such an epic arsehole to own us again.

I want rid. But - not to just anyone; I don't want an arab, russian or yank billionaire who has no reason to own the club but for fun. I want someone who has a good reason to own the club, and a vested interest in it going forwards.

Just saying it’s not a change at all costs for me.

We could have far better owner (s), that is obvious.

However, we could have an awful lot worse as well.

The fans are doing all they can and that is to be applauded, well apart from the one or two who were stood there like lemons, with SD bags, irony I guess.

I’d rather we protested in the ground in some way very live game.

Maybe, as TA says all stay in the concourse for 10 mins or so after kick-off both halves. An empty stadium very visible on telly.

Mind you, judging by Saturday half the crowd were already doing that start of the second half Wink

Staying on the concourse would affect the team performance though.

I'd go after Ashley's other business interests - the protest outside of SD will have hit home more.

It will, but it did make us look a bit sad to be honest, chanting at a shop in Northumberland Street is hardly going to bother him.

Why not get some JCB’s parked up outside all the roads leading to and from his distribution hub and leave them there out of fuel.

I suppose that would lead to some arrests mind Sad
