49,937 v Man City
51,198 v Man United

We seem to be 'protesting' against unglamorous teams.

there could quite easily be 7,000 day trippers, foreigners, students, glory hunters taking up the seats of genuine protesters for the 'top' games

So the protesting is a bit pointless if the daytrippers are going instead. Would a good transfer window in January improve attendances?

the day trippers are obviously only going to the top games so not pointless at all

The revenue lost throughout the whole season will be significant

It depends where we finish. If we overachieve and finish high up the league, the exta places finish bonus would more than compensate. January will be interesting (and dementing).

Not the point.

Greed knows no bounds, yes tv money dwarfs ticket money now but he still wants all of it.

He will not be happy about a 10k drop.

The point is it's not going to get rid of him. It will only reduce what little budget we have in the next transfer window.

It's not battle won though is it.

I'm confident that these 10k seats will be snapped up and then there's no empty seats and suddenly "no protest"....even though the majority of the 10k that packed in this season will not be returning and the freebies will be taken up by a different crowd.

It has finally come to a point this season that there are no more queuing up to replace the boycotters, and their protests have finally been noticed. But that's probably gonna change now.

It's got to be seen as a positive though Richy..

The argument has always been that he wouldn't be bothered by falling attendances - he very clearly is

Free tickets are free tickets - there are no guarantees whatsoever that anyone taking up a free ticket will pay for one next season.. Given the fact that Ashley will not change direction

It's a positive that it's working, aye, but it's not great if we now go back to 52k and the narrative changes to everything being rosy again.

"What protest? All they needed was a couple of wins and free tickets to fill the ground up."

On the other hand, if nobody takes these freebies, that would be brilliant. Unlikely though.

I'd say it is a battle won, obviously not the war but a battle.

Giving free half season tickets away is unheard of for NUFC.

The other thing is the people who have paid for a season ticket are currently frothing at the mouth about it, delicious.

They've got the club they deserve.

I don't see how it can be seen as everything being rosy again - if anything it's humiliating for them having to give tickets away for nowt

I'll just repeat what I have always said about him and he proves me right every time - he is bothered, he does get rattled and he reacts every single fucking time

Yes but with a full house, there'll be no more pages dedicated to how low the attendance is each week.

Talk of protesting fans will disappear. The ground is apathetic cause all the angry ones have left. All the anger surrounding the club in the summer is fading and already we're getting stories of Bruce winning over the fans, when in reality the crowds are still falling.

I think the summer was the perfect situation to cause a change and it did, and it has worked. But I can just see all that being undone now.

It would be brilliant if it didn't. Seen plenty already saying they're getting a ticket just to leave the seat empty.

So aye, it could turn out to be quite good actually.

They are only available to currently paying season ticket holders so that's a bit odd. The tickets are due to run out soon if not already.

Protestors to go back in the woodwork?

It's unlikely that many would be taken and not used as those eligible are more likely to be non protesting.

Protesters/Boycotters will have season ticket holding mates or relatives, and if they can get hold of them they can then leave the seat empty.

Possibly so, however, if they are paying and going they are more likely to disagree with the idea.
