It's so sad that we can't just all come together as a fanbase to oust the horrible cunt, we could actually do it.

He's rattled by a 10k drop for fucks sake, imagine what 20k would do.

RE: 42k

Well due to "high demand" they're not going to be available online today, so it sounds like they've all gone.

Full house getting behind Bruce's Black & White Army and Ashley sits comfortably in the background again.

Mind, there's no way that the wheels don't come off soon and our lucky wins turn to defeats. A bad run of form and it should hopefully be empty and angry again.

He's that bothered about empty seats that he wants to fill them for free, sports direct signs with a backdrop of grey seats is bad for his brand.

We could so easily get him to sell but not enough fans are willing to sacrifice their day out for the long term good of the club, so frustrating.

RE: 42k

The fact that so many wanted them suggests it's more to do with the ticket prices rather than wanting to protest.

Ashley's realised he can't get a full house with the current prices so has given a few away for free. This means that at least some extra people are more likely to buy food and drink at the stadium or get them lured in to the NUFC drug for future although prices will be a big factor again.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens with prices next season. If I’d paid full price this season I’d be fucking furious at this latest cynical stunt.

Not only have they paid full price, they've paid an extra 25% over two seasons due to price increases. (unless they're on the 10 year plan)

So the majority of paying customers are contributing towards the freebies.

Go back two years, and season ticket income from this season is probably just as high, despite the fall in numbers.

The facts that the tickets sold out quickly. Yes there may be a few buying to not use but they were ordered by currently paying season ticket holders so likely to be used. Therefore high demand and plenty fans to replace any protestors if the price is not excessive.

So let me get this clear...

You are saying the facts 'suggest' that because there has been a 10,000 drop off of regular attendees it is more to do with the ticket prices rather than them protesting ???

And there are facts which prove this ???

The biggest and easiest fact is that the 10,000 has easily been replaced to go with the 40,000 that didn't protest. The 10,000 protestors will be forgotton about.

RE: 42k

It's a lot more than 10,000 protesters.

Probably every year for the last decade, Ashley has been driving fans away. Each season there's new people packing in and refusing to go back while Ashley's there, but the crowds remained around 50k because there's others lined up to take their seats.

Until this year, when the ground had finally started to empty.

But you're right, a full house of 50k will mean that the protests are quickly forgotten.

No, no - you started off suggesting that the protestors weren't actually protesting at all - you were trying to claim they could no longer afford to go - implying it was the same 10 thousand who had now taken up the free offer

Now you are claiming that the protestors have actually been REPLACED by the ones taking up the free tickets..

Sorry Keith - you're going to have to do much better than that - like I said - utter fucking bullshit

RE: 42k

What I mean is it's easy to protest with current prices and that protesting isn't going to work when people will be going when prices are reduced or given away for free. Basically the protesting is only achieving embarrasment. Yes there is less money in Ashley's pocket but it's not enough to make much difference and it only reduces the little spend the club has on squad investment and damagin the club.

The money made on all season tickets is pretty much insignificant.

Charge say 400 a ticket average, sell 50,000 makes the club 20M.

Chickenfeed.

Even after the big price increases over the last couple of seasons which 40,000 continue to pay and not having to pay Rafa's wages? Also the TV money Ashley has flowing in and on course for a bigger payout based on a higher than expected league position?

As you say I don’t think he gives a flying fuck whatever fans do. He will leave when he is ready and on his terms he has no need to sell at the moment it’s a catch 22 same every year. People just have to go with whatever they feel is right. For me it means keeping an eye on results being happy when we win, I can’t pretend I’m not. Do I watch games on T.V. yes will I go to games not at SJP maybe the odd away game if there are tickets available. Do I like what MA is doing no but it’s not going to change any time soon so I refuse to deprive myself of remaining a supporter in football terms of our football club whether people agree or not is up to them, but it’s my choice and no matter what you think or say you will not change my mindset.

10,000 unsold season tickets would generate around 4m. Chickenfeed.
He's not fussed over this. This will be covered by finishing one place above where Benitez finished.

RE: 42k

As mac says, why would he give away free tickets if he wasn't bothered by the empty seats?

It's not about the money but he's definitely bothered by it.

Empty seats might encourage others to protest. People who previously thought that a boycott would never take off, will see the gaps in the ground and think that there is actually something in this.

Either that or the flat atmosphere might just be enough to put others off. Shite football and a dull crowd aren't exactly an entertaining Saturday afternoon.

If he doesn't stop it now, more and more could leave.

Of course it damages his brand, that's why he will want to stop it before it gets worse.

Disagree about the money slightly, it's 4 million that of course he'd prefer in his pocket, but in the grand scheme of things it isn't a major loss to him. Especially when he has had other paying customers who are happy to pay the inflated prices.
