RE: Just look forward to the summer

he spends more than normal at the start of a championship season because he wants to get straight back up so he can get his fat pigs snout in the premiership money trough again....thats the downside of gambling on finishing 17th every season, sometimes it backfires and he ends up looking like a bit of a dumb fuck....ofcourse he'll really appreciate fans like you, ashley apologists who'll always spring to his defence no matter what, it's basically the main reason he's still here. RE: Just look forward to the summer

Spending £60mil on a two players to finish 17th? You really believe that? / expect people to believe it?

Spending £100mil net on players would also be a gamble but a sensible approach would be to spend what's in the bank and only if they are good deals.

What we spent and have been spending is in line with slowly progressing season on season which is a sensible approach. The squads that we have started with since last promotion on paper were to finish comfortably above relegation and we did so.

The main reason Ashley is still here is because of the TV money by far, the fans going is just a small bonus.

we're not progressing man, i've never known anyone so blinkered, the fact that he replaced one of the top managers in europe with a chancer like bruce who's won eff all should tell you we're not progressing, the fact that we're still signing young players to ship out at a tidy profit a few years later should tell you we're not progressing.....you're making such a big deal about the joelinton fuck up, £40m for an impotent striker who couldnt even hit mikes fat arse with a fucking banjo....it was a final "fuck off" to rafa anyway, that's all, it was mike ashleys way of undermining rafas judgement on a striker that he didnt even think was worth £20m........and he was right.

RE: Just look forward to the summer

We are as we have decent players like Dubravka, Almiron and Maximin and more money in the bank. I'm sure a few clubs in the league would like them in their team and many reports linking them to teams in the Champions league is a sign we have top players at the club.

I keep mentioning £40mil because you ignore / can't accept it shows ambition. He's too tight to spend £40mil just to be a cunt. He wouldn't spend £4 for that.
He was signed because our chief scout recommended him and said he was worth the money. Many top players struggle in their first season, even more so with the changes from last summer and injuries to Gayle and Carroll.

There are not many clubs which can hang on to their best players. Staying in the Premier league makes it a bit easier, but never a guarantee.

he is enough of a vindictive cunt to do it tho..

Quote:Plenty of homework was done on Joelinton - it was felt he could evolve as a centre forward - so a deal was agreed in February but Rafa Benitez refused to sign off on it.

Within a week of Steve Bruce's appointment, the club broke their transfer record and spent £40m on the Brazilian.

So all of a sudden, after 12 looooong years of penny-pinching and refusing to pay "silly money" for even well established strikers like aubameyang, lacazette etc. he thought what the hell, i'll spunk £40m on a 22 year old brazilian striker who isn't a striker, sod the expense.

No... he did it firstly as a fuck you to Rafa and secondly to pacify the fans who he knew would be angered by Rafa being pushed out.....so in many ways i'm glad that joelinton is shite because he was signed for all the wrong reasons. Rolleyes

RE: Just look forward to the summer

It's difficult to prove /disprove but he broke the record for Rafa to sign Almiron, so he doesn't mind breaking the record when a decent buy appears on paper. He didn't have to do it as Rafa was signed up untill the end of the season.

The only thing Ashley needs to do to appease fans is to say he's selling up otherwise he does as he pleases.

He doesn’t have to sell up to appease me, I’d be just as happy to be reading his obituary.

at one point tho he told atlanta £15.5m was his final offer take it or leave it, and that was for a player who'd scored 21 goals in 62 apps.....a few months later anyone would think there was more chance of hell freezing over than ashley blowing all the perez fee and more on ONE player....highly suspicious i'm sure you'll agree.

RE: Just look forward to the summer

Not really. He drives a hard bargain and isn't known to crack under pressure. £40mil for a 22 year old attacking player in todays game isn't much and the money was there in the bank. On many occasions the club has stated the big deals are done in the summer.

The deal was already leaked months before Rafa left. The only hold up was Rafa's contract giving him the final say which ended when the contract ended.

oh come off it....even an extreme ashley sympathiser like yourself must have been gobsmacked when he coughed that much up for joelinton, there'd been money in the bank for the last 12 years mate, it's ashleys reluctance to part with it that's been the problem. Rolleyes

There hasn't been at all. Check the financial figures and you will educate yourself. He'll part with it when it's available and when there is a good deal to be had.

Pre Ashley we had to pay over the odds to compete with other clubs as the north east is not as attractive as London or Manchester. Now with the TV money and touch wood Premier league stability we will be able to compete more and on a better financial situation.

he's had 13 years to give the club premiership stability, he has the financial clout to have achieved that but has decided not to and that wont change, if by "compete" you mean top 4, top 6 then forget it, that has never ever been his target.........try 17th. Rolleyes

He's also had a few years to recover from taking over a club in a financial mess. It's taken a while to get the finances to a state where money can be spent sensibly. Competing as in from 7th to 10th with steady progress.

It's not as simple as just putting money in. Players are gambles. Some pay off, some don't. There was a lot of money spent on Dutch and French players which you seem to ignore / forget. If we'd recruited better, we could have avoided relegations and be in a better state.

Some clubs have invested x 10 more than us but are worse off.

Again, where is the evidence to finish 17th? Compared to other clubs around us?

Just look forward to the summer

Ashley has yet again been exposed and humiliated on a national level

It takes a very special kind of stupid to excuse or rationalise his actions

Obviously toonraider and his couple of hangers on have an agenda that has nothing to do with the best interests of NUFC and he isn't ashamed of looking a tit trying to prove a point

You have some disturbing thoughts Liam.

There are plenty of other businesses staying open for no good reason so he is just one of many.

My agenda is to accept what I can and can't do as a fan to help the club be as successfull as possible, make points based on facts as opposed making things up to suit and to educe you lot. To also point out when I've been proven to be correct, ie. when we are going to break the club spending record.
