As we stumble into 2021

...with 18 points from 15 games, it would be interesting to know what the new year will bring..no doubt we all agree a better manager would be nice, but i'm sure we also all agree that there's more chance of hell freezing over, i think it's pretty safe to say that the next two games will not exactly fill us with much christmas cheer, except for liam and TA ofcourse who will feel like all their christmasses have come at once as they watch citeh and the dippers rip our sorry defence a new arsehole.

Following these two hammerings we should possibly drop from 12th to 14th, which is champion for fatmike slim as that's 3 places above his targetted finishing place....and steve doesnt even need to use the covid outbreak as an excuse, he'll just fob us off in the same way he did the other week when we only had 29% possession and one shot on target "chelsea are a very, very good side". oh fuck off, we were beaten before the teams even walked out, but i suppose a lot of managers are the same as bruce in terms of deflecting the blame, it was refreshing to listen to arteta the other day taking responsibilty for arsenal being a bit shit "When you are not getting results, at the end of the day it’s the manager who has the maximum responsibility.......So my chest is here, hit me guys"......spot on, bruce is responsible for the tactics, preparation, fitness, motivation and ultimately picking the team, so if it all goes tits up (as it does more often than not) it's his fault.

Hopefully we find a glimmer of hope in the new year by seeing off brentford to reach the semi-finals of the league cup for the first time since 1976, an achievement in itself, bruce will already have a few excuses up his sleeve...."the players still suffering the effects of covid..two big games coming up...the grass was too green...brentford are a very, very good side...blah fucking blah"

But anyway, whatever the new year might bring, one thing remains.....Howay the toon, we'll support you evermore. GeordieScarf

RE: As we stumble into 2021

Yep what you say sums up how I feel aswell. I have written the next 3 league games off so let’s hope we can beat Brentford. All games seem a bit of a slog at the moment so don’t hold your breath tomorrow evening.

As we stumble into 2021

Maybe one day it will finally sink in that the manager of Newcastle United is an irrelevance

RE: As we stumble into 2021

The manager is a factor for me as there are some monumentally incompetent managers who would no doubt be able to get us relegated. Touch wood, with Bruce, he should have the ability to keep us up. Remaining in the Premier league will keep us in much needed money which does get spent regardless of what people will have you believe.

The January window will be interesting. Hopefully we can do a bit better than Bentaleb and a decent winger who doesn't get selected next month as a couple of decent loans would be helpful.

after watching that, you have to include Bruce in that category?

RE: As we stumble into 2021

I support the team not the regime like I have always said. Under Ashley it makes no difference who the manager is. Having Rafa in charge proved that. If you invest in mediocre players what can you expect same for a lot of clubs in this league. There are 10+ mediocre to poor sides in the PL and of course we are one of them.

RE: As we stumble into 2021

To be serious though, the manager can make quite a difference, even at Newcastle with average players. A well organised team with a decent set of tactics can be the difference of staying up or not or a good few places higher or lower in the league which makes a big difference to the finances and club's spending ability.

RE: As we stumble into 2021

So we begin the new year with one point more than we all expected, ......the first team to keep a clean sheet against the champs this season, unbelievable really the unpredictability of this team, god only knows what 2021 will bring.

Oh btw TA, do you still think Darlow is "shit"? Confused Big Grin

‘Patter’ haven’t heard that word for years takes me back to my younger days growing up in sunny Whitley Bay.
