Defence / Can we stay up?

Imposed wholesale changes saw what should have been our back 4 all season long.

Clark / Lascelles / Kraft / Ritchie have no business whatsoever starting ahead of those 4 that finished the game last night.

I will be gutted if Howe does fall back onto any of them unless there are injuries of course.

Its mental to think we are STILL only 6 points adrift despite not getting a single win this season. Common sense says we are down, but, I cant help but cling onto the shred of hope left in me that we are better than our league position.

Beat Burnley Saturday and other results go in our favour would make our position look more hopeful, but we still need to go into this December run of stinking games under no illusions whatsoever that we need to pull a big win out of our arses from at least one of the games.

Get to January and bring in 3 or 4 good players to give ourselves a fighting chance of staying up.

RE: Defence / Can we stay up?

If and it's a huge if we beat Burnley, we need Chelsea and Man City to do the business against Watford, we'd be 3 points adrift come Saturday night.

That would look better but then come the brutal games, we need to beat Leicester away or Man U at home or something, and get something at Everton.

We haven't won but we have effectively won 2 and drawn 1 (still shite mind)

I still have some hope, but if we don't win on Saturday we are toast.

6 points separating the whole of the bottom half.

We have a tough December, but there's so many clubs down there, they can't all pull away from us. We will still be in touch by January, thanks to the win yesterday. And then we have a good looking run of fixtures of our own. Of course we can stay up. Smile

It's going to be squeaky bum time for a long while. I'm assuming we're going down and will take it as a bonus if they stay up

RE: Defence / Can we stay up?

Cracking set of results today.

3 points from 17th and 6 points from 12th, plenty of other teams are going to be in the scrap with us.

We can do this, especially with some additions in Jan.

Defence / Can we stay up?

Makes it all the more annoying the dropped points against Southampton, Brentford and Norwich.

And Brighton we were robbed by their keeper. Totally agree with the other results in the sequence we could/ should be at least 6 points better off. Never mind we need to dig deep and keep going. Do I think we will survive. It will be close but I think we will.

RE: Defence / Can we stay up?

Well we are going to be 4 adrift at best after the next round of fixtures as Burnley play Watford and obviously we will get another loss at Liverpool.

Looking at other fixtures Leeds' next 3 are Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool, let's hope they lose all of them as we go to Everton away.

Hopefully we can get something against Man U before that.

If we can somehow stay no more than 6 adrift come Jan i think we will do it but realistically it's going to be more like 7-10 points adrift.

RE: Defence / Can we stay up?

Can't expect the team as it is to get a poijt anywhere. They're utterly shite. Hopefully won't be too far adrift by January, even if we aren't it then hinges on getting in players and them then gelling almost immediately. It really doesn't look hopeful at all

It's because the next two games are nailed on defeats aswell.

10 points from 18 games.

Grim.

That’s the key though isn’t it Jinky, we need players for January ready and able not mid or late Jan, let’s hope the club already have the contracts drawn up.

They certainly need a few in to sort this mess out.

RE: Defence / Can we stay up?

Burnley v Watford is off tonight.

I feel like this is good, the gap can't be extended and they will have an extra fixture later in the season.

We could go into the Man U game still only 3 points adrift even losing these next two.

Mind you, postpone the season till the 1st of Feb is what i think they should do, know what i mean? Wink

Defence / Can we stay up?

Barring a few lucky wins (plural) against Liverpool, City and Manure i think we're down. I can't see how we can fix the defence, even with new signings. Howes first negative for me is sticking by Lascelles, I think he's creating a rod for his own back, and giving the fans an easy hitter to turn on him, as if he sticks with him and he continues to cost us goals, the blame will shift to Howe.
I think we're down personally, but obviously would hope to be proved wrong, just can't see us winning games with the squad we have and i don't think we'll be close enough to the pack to catch up, even if we make some decent January signings.

Defence / Can we stay up?

I think we need 6 points minimum from Liverpool, City and Man Utd, and then 3 points off Everton.

I'm ever the optimist but can't see that happening at all, the best we can hope for from what I've seen is a point against manure simply because they are in a period of transition

Defence / Can we stay up?

Exactly, we're pretty much fucked, we dropped too many points against teams we should have beaten, and unless we get lucky against teams we're not expecting nothing from we're screwed.

But it only matters what 17th are on, they are on less than a point per game at the minute.

34 points could be enough.
